    updated superhero movie earnings

I posted an out of date list on another thread but since i just killed an hour compiling this i need to share:

record earnings US adjusted for inflation 1977 - July 2009

this is somewhat skewed as to what was actually successful: newer movies have proportionally larger budgets, budgets of some movies regardless of time are exceptionally high (superman returns) and others exceptionally low (teenage mut ninja turtles), marketing cost, worldwide box office, DVD sales and broadcast revenue and merchandising have an enormous affect on profitability.

Thanks for sharing Brue! That really is interesting to see the box office presented like that. There Blade sits next to Watchmen, yet because of costs, one's a "hit" and the other is considered much less successful.

I forgotten about The Mask! Loved those earliest Arcudi and Mahnke (sp?) issues.
