    Incredible Hulk

Hi,I'm a collector of Marvel comic character:The Incredible Hulk,I've got almost all comic books from start to almost 300 where I kinda lost interest...
I admire the work of Jack Kirby et Joe sinnott.

I bought many comics when I was a kid and when I grew up,these were throw
away...now as an adult I wanted to have these back and started to collect them around 2 years ago...I only have a dozen or so numbers that I'm looking
to add as soon as I'll find a fair price...
Are-there any HULK comics collectors on MM?

"Don't make me angry...you wouldn't like me when I'm angry..." ROAR!

...I am as well, but only for the Comics...I don't go out of my way to get everything Hulk.

I LOVE Jack Kirby's work and I think he did the best job with the Fantastic Four. I wish someone could make a Jack Kirby sculpt of the Thing. Now THAT would be ultra-cool!

*strolls in with glee* Well well, I see some comics I don't have! Honestly, around when you quit was when he got MORE interresting. The different personalities, the deeper story line. Great stuff! Anything Peter David does is gold IMHO! Well, another Hulk lover around here! *reaches out hand* Nice to meet you!

My Hulk collection starts up just about where yours leaves off! As a kid, I began at Hulk 312 during the Secret Wars II crossover with Alpha Flight just before John Byrne jumped on board as writer/artist and continues to this day.

My favourite eras are the Peter David/Dale Keown years and the short lived Paul Jenkins run where he picked up on the Multiple Personalities threads that David had laid down.

OH! 312! The actual "Origin" issue. Such a GREAT comic! I own 10 copies of this comic just for people to read when they ask about his origin. This one,#250, #300, #316-#320 #25 (the one where he LITERALLY knocks Abomination's block off) and World War Hulk are needed reads if you want to understand the Hulk. Jenkins is such a wonderful writer, the creator of my handle "The Sentry". Also giving Banner Lou Gherig's disease and having the Hulk's help save his life was such a great treat, you NEVER knew what Hulk you were going to get each month.

312 really did form the backbone of David's run. I have to say I was pretty shocked years later when I heard that Mantlo essentially plagiarised this story from Barry Windsor Smith's unpublished Hulk story.

It will be interesting to compare the two fully once Windsor Smith completes it as an original graphic novel called "The Monster"

The other highlight of 312: Mike Mignola art! Although I have to say that Gerry Talaoc's scratchy inks don't fit Mignola's pencils very well.

The biggest disappointment of Jenkin's aborted run was that we never got to see the "Devil" Hulk subplot play out.

Marvel really does go back and forth editorially quite a bit when it comes to "Hulk Smash" versus the Multiple Personality Disorder Hulk.

I'm going to have to hunt down the BWS story, I SO LOVE HIS ART! (Remember I'm a HUGE Conan fan and issue #16 was the first comic I ever owned, even OVER a Hulk comic) I NEED THIS STORY WHEN IT COMES OUT!

Yeah, leave it to Marvel to jack up a good thing!

Hi,good to hear from ya...first of all,you may be right for the "deeper story line" but to me,it's the drawing of the character that bugs me...first,I'm from Quebec(canada)so when I was a kid I bought FRENCH versions of various MARVEL comics and my prefered was HULK;when I grew up I kinda lost interest in comic books for Girls&Cars...

I noticed a change in the drawing of the Hulk around that period and decided to collect up to a certain period...I have number 246 which is the highest I own with 232 and 216...I have almost evrything up to 190.Just bought 173-174-177-184 on Ebay(I'm excited) Only a few more to complete
                          to 200.(Only a few remaining)
                          Al

By the way,of course I collect all the "other" numbers where Hulk might appear as this Cap America 230...I've got many of those to get for my collection...my opinion is that an incomplete collection is more 'fun' than a complete one because you're always on the look out for that elusive book...
it's the pleasure of the hunt

Agreed! I'm about 30-40 issues away from having almost all of them, with the occasional appearances in other comics. I agree the hunt is better than the catch sometimes for me!
