This is the kind of cool "Imaginary Story" that I would have loved back as a kid reading The New Teen Titans. "Why is BATMAN kissing ROBIN'S GIRLFRIEND?" in big bold letters on the front cover.
It obviously gives them a real genuine tension and concrete reason for being apart rather than editorial wanting to keep Aliens out of the Batman universe for so many years once Nightwing was brought back into the fold (guest appearances by Superman being the exception).
Purely speculation of course, but I'm guessing this is the perfect opportunity to show that Dick has responsibilities as Batman that cannot include a relationship, as Bruce had discovered time and time again. -
That is a Fantastic Piece of Art Work.
btw,... She looks like she is gonna Suck his chin off,.. & that doesn't look like a Batarang I am used to seeing in his pants either.

Well, the artwork above is pretty to look at, but I've been underwhelmed with Judd Winick's Batman for the one issue I read (and I had pretty low expectations). There is a degree of overwriting with Winick's stuff that is reminiscent of Claremont. For example, I don't think we ever need to see Alfred explicitly say something like "My son has died" in reference to Bruce. It seems really out of character and inappropriate for him to say that out loud. It has always worked very well as a kind of subtext, but doesn't need to be stated, especially by Alfred himself, who is always driven by protocol and decorum.
I am really enjoying Morrison's Batman and Robin so far, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Still haven't picked up Red Robin yet, and I will give Batmwoman in Detective a try since I like Rucka's Queen and Country so much.Comment

I think everyone would prefer him with Babs but for whatever reason they killed that even though they got engaged before countdown. but i think Kory is a close second followed by Huntress.
yeah she's taller but it looks like she's leaning into the kiss so maybe that's it, or he's wearing batlifts in his bootsLooking for Infinite Heroes Robin and Catwoman

The Dick and Babs thing is somewhat manufactured, really. They flirted heavily in the 70s, and then BTAS established a romance between them. The writers in the 90s picked up on this, and revised their relationship somewhat post-Crisis to infer that they were once a semi-item at least. Chuck Dixon fleshed it out the best in Nightwing and BOP. Everyone since has pretty much wrecked what he started.
But Marv Wolfman developed the Dick/Kory dynamic really well. Of course he honked off fans twice by having Kory marry that dude on Tamaran, and then having Raven destroy their wedding (which was editioraly mandated, I may add).
Anyone recall that Flash arc that Waid wrote right after the Dick/Kory wedding disaster? He treats them as man and wife. I guess he didn't get the memo that the new editor changed the outcome!!!
They were an item during the heyday of NTT, so I have a soft spot for them together, but I also dig him and Babs, so I'm torn.
