No, it's not totally pointless...remember, IC brought back the GREATEST HERO of ALL...and we still haven't been treated to poor Earth-2 Superman (and probably Lois too) being dragged around as a rotting corpse in Blackest Night.

Obviously you've jumped the gun in thinking there was no more disrespect available in the DC offices for the hero that started the entire industry.
