    JLA....Good News and Bad News?

The Good News....Mark Bagley is the new artist on Justice League of America (always liked his work and will be interesting to see him take on the JLA)

The Bad News....James Robinson is the new writer...I used to be a fan of this guy (Starman, The Golden Age) but his work at DC since his return (Superman) has been lackluster and I think he's lost his way somewhat. He's also the mastermind behind the JLA mini-spin-off Cry for Justice and I'm not too thrilled with that approach. Maybe it'll be different once I read it...I dunno.

At any rate, hopefully these guys can guide the JLA to greatness again and not have their hands tied by DC editorial. The recent run started by Brad Meltzer and continued by Dwayne McDuffie has been unbearable...

While I loved Bagley on his original Spiderman run...he really didn't impress me on Trinity. I think it's finally time for me to let this title go.

Other than his Batman issues, I think James Robinson's best stuff is when he's given a B or C list character to reinvent from the ground up rather than a Big Gun. I've never thought much of his Superman work stood out, but Starman, Shade, Vigilante, Witchcraft, Fire-Arm, Hawkman and his work on JSA had always been solid.

McDuffie cried a lot about his handcuffing by DC editorial, he could have done better with what he had or at least dug up some other characters. There are other GLC members he could have used, Zatanna, Plastic Man, and I'm sure a few others available.

              I know.
              But I must get everything.
I do not think,.. I have ever,.. ever done that with anything ever before ...
not that I can ever remember anyways. I do expect to be fully entertained ,.. just can not afford to get involved with any "maybe" cool books at this time.

Best news on this front is that Robinson really has a knack for making 2nd & 3rd tier (even 4th tier!) characters interesting and fresh. Look at the way he used BlueSkin Starman, Black Pirate, heck even Space Cabby in Starman. So if DC yanks out all the big guns again, I think the storylines may actually be ok given his track record.
Bagley is a great artist, plus he's consistent and on time.

Looks like Wonder Woman is going to be in charge of this team....Gotta be better than Black Canary's stint.

^^ So now that McDuffie's gone they give the JLA a big gun member??

^ Maybe Robinson has more clout than McDuffie? An apparently, at one point, both Greg Rucka and Geoff Johns were attached to a new JLA title...perhaps the new membership is something left over from their plans for the book?

There was a Morrison and Lee rumor floating around, I guess that's all that was.

Bummer....if it'd been true, I wouldn't have cancelled the Book.

Then it was Morrison and Manke or someone else. Now that they announced the new team, I guess that's all gone.
