When I get it, I'll let you know. I've already read a lot of good reviews of it.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

I won't spoil it, but I'm getting the same kind of fun kick out of it as a kind of updating of this one...
It's definitely a Batman and Robin dynamic that we haven't seen before, and it's actually created something quite interesting when you invert the traditional personalities behind the respective masks.
I would love to see the wonderful havok that Damian would wreak within the interpersonal dynamics of the Teen Titans at some point.Comment

I read the preview, and for what it was, it was entertaining. But the fact that DC is acting like Dick hasn't been Batman before just irks me. It was only about 15 years ago. I know that's quite a while, but since comics has very few NEW readers, most comic readers who read Batman remember the "Prodigal" storyline.
Plus Damian...he's a cipher. Morrison created him to be a little killing machine with no morals who happens to be Batman's son. Taking that and putting him in a Robin suit just rubs me all kinds of wrong. And that Robin suit is UGLY.
But I'm not going to be buying it, so if you guys buy it and like it, well more power to you. As I said, looks well executed. The flying Batmobile's symbol is straight out of Batman Beyond (heck so is the flying concept).

I think there is a difference in Dick's eyes between filling in for Bruce while he is still alive (albeit with a broken back), and actually replacing Bruce as Batman for what to him appears to be on a permanent basis, given that they believe Bruce dead. And it is sad that the majority of the readers do remember 15 years back. It used to be that the readership mostly turned over every ten years or so, which is why "continuity" wasn't an issue for the first four decades or so.
I think you are dead on the money about Damian. Although I see it as a way to evolve the character under the mentorship of someone like Dick. In fact Dick and Alfred discuss his potential later on in the issue. I think it's really supposed to disturb and bother us the way Damian treats Alfred like a Lackey, or the extremes of his "sibling rivalry" with Dick.
Remember when Robin was first introduced to lighten up the world of Batman? Now we have a Grim 'n Gritty Robin every bit as obsessed with continuing his father's "mission", contrasted with a Batman who LOVES having a flying car. I expect it won't be long before Dick sends him off to hang out with the Titans and try and learn how to be a real kid... imagine how he interacts with someone like Bart or even Conner! Will he even take Wonder Girl seriously as the leader of the Titans?
I think the main problem with the cape-hood on the Robin outfit is the fact that they are coloured differently, so it looks weird when Damian isn't wearing the hood. It would be better if the outside of the cape would be the same dark shade to match the hood.
Good eye on the Batman Beyond batmobile connection!Last edited by samurainoir; Jun 5, '09, 10:24 AM.Comment

Ok, here it is. THE NEW BATMOBILE SUCKS, the new ROBIN SUCKS, the NEW ROBIN OUTFIT SUCKS, Dick as Batman-been there done that nothing original.
Why do this on batman's big 70 anniversary? to put out more BAT TITLES, which will be cancelled due to low sales or cancelled when the real Batman/Bruce Wayne returns.(SURE TO BE VERY SOON) has anyone noticed that marvel is returning to the way it was as well, look at spiderman he is remarrying mary jane (according to the new ads in this weeks marvels) Steve Rogers is returning. no point in any of these changes done except to alienate us the readers. what ya all think?? let me know....Comment

Excellent first issue. I liked the reversal in attitudes between Batman & Robin. I'm intrigued by the new Bad. Pyg is freakin creepy. I even liked the new Batmobil. This is going to be a fun ride.Comment
