Jason if what that guy says turns out to be true, I will have nothing to do with the movie or anything associated with it. That's BS. I'm tired of being asked to hand over my cultures' identity because we have to submit to some kind of racial profiling. Respect and tolerance comes from understanding and respecting differences, not saying, "Here's our culture. Change it as you wish." I'm just fed up with it all.

I don't want to see them change Cap black just to do it.

I don't want to see Black Panther, Cyborg, or even Shaft white, Asian, whatever.

I don't want to see Zorro played by a non-Spanish heritage actor. He has, of course, but at least they portrayed the character as Spanish. I like Banderas as Zorro, and nowadays wouldn't want Ed Norton playing him for instance (really white guy I thought of).

Captain America got screwed out of a good movie once. If he get that again, it's going to be a LONG time before we see him get another shot.

As for the comics, they can do it and change it back soon enough. But a movie lasts forever staring at you from the $5 bin at Wal-Mart.

Right! Because quite often the movie is what influences what the general public thinks/knows about a character unfortunately. All of the fixes in a comic book don't always flow over into the minds of the masses.

The Truth and the Black Captain America have been in official 616 continuity now for 5 years as well, with many storylines spinning off of it and referring to it (including Patriot from Young Avengers).

I'm just curious what the difference is for you in a Black Nick Fury vs a Black Cap? Why is one acceptable and the other not?

for me Fury is a minor character they try to make a major one, Cap's a major player and shouldn't be turned black in the name of racial harmony

DC's licensing department, Warner DVD's department, Cartoon Network, and Mattel Toys might have something to say about the what they consider "success"

                  Marvel Studios as well...

                  "Next Time BABY!"

With the amount of success they had with Iron Man, is there any doubt that they went after an Oscar nominated actor with a potential War Machine spinoff movie in mind?

Something else to keep in mind... whatever the announcement will be, you cannot BUY the huge amount of publicity this kind of controversial "leak" generates around internet fandom.

Not quite the same with GL. When we first met Hal Jordan he took over for a pink-skinned alien. Later on he met a chicken-finhead Green Lantern. A black human wasn't much of a stretch. John was a long established character, and Hal was "bad" at the time JL debuted. So only minor controversy amongst the fanboys there.

Probably the Leading Factor is Lack there of Knowledge of the Character of Fury in General. When you Don't Know a Character,.. It really doesn't affect what anyone Does with him/she/it or Whatever. Never really Read that Much Fury ,.. Even when he was White,.. & Didn't really read anything Fury Related Ever,.. Only Guest Spots here or there From Both White & Black Versions...

& BTW... I liked the Young Avengers Patriot Character.

                      & Double BTW...
Why does it seem like you Buy into all this New Fangled BS Idea's Like they are the Greatest thing Sinced Shaved Snatch ?

Naw,.. JK,.. But after thinking today,.. it seems as if you Do take the Road of Defending alot of Ideas that others think are Horrible. Are you the Type of Reader Where No Direction could ever be Wrong ?

Reguardless,.. as Long as These Companies Keep Pumping out this Nonsense,.. & People get sucked in,.. & Spend their cash,.. the More of this Nonsense they will continue to Make.

                        Right.
Hal was Bad/Dead & Gone into the Spectre....
Thats Why Stewart even got to Shine on JL In the 1st place,... Then Being able to add a character of Color to the Show was the 2nd Bonus. It was the Logical Choice.

Another possibility just occurred to me, thinking about potential spinoff movies (which seems to be norm given Wolverine's latest cinematic adventures and potential Deadpool, Gambit and X-Men 1st Class movies spinning off the spinoff).

They are in fact casting based around a more traditional caucasian Captain America, but including the idea that the Super Soldier serum was tested on African American candidates first... ala Tuskegee, of which there was one survivor (who has a supporting role in the film). Which sets up a potential spinoff film based on The Truth (or they can call it Justice or Patriot or whatever).

Either way, if there is a Black Cap in the greenlit screenplay (as primary character or supporting player), Marvel sees it as an opportunity to stir things up and capitalize on the potential controversy with both the collectors and non-comics buying public by creating an "event" around it.

Or it's all false rumours to distract from the fact that Steve Rogers has come back to life in the 616 Universe. Whatever it is, are we in agreement that this is probably something designed to capitalize on upcoming movie announcements?

Any chance we're just misplacing the casting choice and that perhaps Will Smith may play another character close to Captain Amercia? Say the Falcon? Now I would like that big time. I think Will Smith would make a fantastic Falcon.

It's all just rumours and speculation at this point.

When was the last time Smith played a sidekick role to anyone in any movie? He's a leading man in tent pole popcorn flicks, as well as Oscar Bait. I'm not sure the Falcon is a likely role for him.

If he's playing a supporting role of Isaiah Bradley, then you can well expect that its' because they have designed a spinoff movie adapting The Truth Red White and Black around him.

But I really do think given the way Hollywood studios does this kind of thing, that IF Smith is announced as being cast as Captain America, it's no coincidence that it's in the same year that the USA elects a Black President. Plus Hancock did the box office numbers with Smith as a "Superhero".

Given that Will Smith movies traditionally open on July 4th adds kind of an extra layer to it doesn't it?

This is a kind of a Kobayashi -Maru style question for the folks around here, but would you rather see Will Smith or Nick Cage as Captain America if you were forced to choose between either?

New wrinkle... Will Smith, Nick Cage or Keanu Reeves?

Dude might be a Horrible Actor in 1 Demention Mode,.. However He could pull off the Distance Hero from another time,.. over the other 2,.. + His Movies Stories are Mostly always good & Filled with Action.

But I'd Take Thomas Jane,.. over the 3,.. + The Dude would probably Do the Movie for a Third of what any of the other Guys Would Want.
