Another character they fixed only to screw up again. Hector Hall actually worked as Fate, and after working so hard to establish him, they thew him out the window. I felt like Johns was forced to do that by some mandate. It seemed way too tacked on otherwise.
I liked Hector's costume better too. Or how about just bring back Kent and Inza and get it over with?

And here I was hoping the quality of JSA would stay up after Johns departure. Yawwn.
I've already told my man at the LCS to drop JSofA. Not interested in what Willingham or Jurgans has to say about these characters. But, that's ok. It gave me room for Wednesday's Comics.

Johns is one of the only people that can probably handle a cast as large as JSA....I don't have high hopes for Willingham and Sturges. I don't mind them on Fables or House of Mystery but I really haven't cared for their DCU work....
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
DC amazes me with Doctor Fate. A classic costume that doesn't need changed- CHANGED. A great origin that didn't need redoing- REDONE. A fantastic set of powers that don't need reworked-REWORKED. Secret Identity that never needed replacing- REPLACED (multiple times).
Another wonderful character they just can't resist tampering with. I'm assuming a few of you have read the 1st Issue Special he had in the '70s by Walt Simonson. Best take on the character ever.

Yes. Really enjoyed the Simonson stuff. They need to bring back Nabu and the original Kent Nelson. That last mini was a mess, this was even before the writer passed away. Did not like it. And I really wanted to. Major Dr Fate fan.
The same goes for the the Spectre. They should have either retired the character after the Ostrander/Mandrake run, or depowered him and gone a completely different direction.
Why can't some characters stay the same? It seemed like Dr Fate and the Spectre could have been the only 2 that really could have remained.
Not much on the new Fate costume, but I'm going to give the book a chance.
James Robinson drew me to the JSA series, but who knew the book would get better once he left.
Dr. Fate's a character I've liked mainly because he was in the JSA, had a cool costume, but I've never read a story with him as the focus that was particularly compelling.
