    Jim Lee's Absolute Superman

Just got the new Absolute Superman book featuring Azzarello's story and Jim Lee's art.

Lee's art looks fabulous at the larger size. I can't wait until he's done with the DCUniverse online game so he can get back to the drawing table.

Would love to see him work on Green Lantern or Justice League or Superman or Wonder Woman

At this point, unless he gets it all in the can, I'm thinking that he should only do self contained OGN's. He's working with the best writer's in the biz anyways.

I'd like to see him finish Grant Morrison's WildCats, the Alan Moore proposed ABC Graphic Novel, and the 1963 Annual before starting anything else. Is All Star Batman and Robin still going? Have they gotten out of the car or the cave yet?

I love both Azzerello and Jim Lee's stuff, but I never thought their pairing on Superman worked that well. Azzerello's writing seems to need someone who can draw dirt and shadows. Jim Lee's style is just too mythic and iconic for Azzerello's world view that is generally filled with fallibility.

I'm with you on the starting early thing. Hush and his Superman run came out on time if i remember correctly, its only when he got involved with that Online game and started working with Miller that his stuff came out late for DC.

But to me, Lee's like George Perez, his work is worth waiting on. Delays never have bothered me much, I'm always a month or two behind reading things anyway.

As far as Azzarello, I liked his Lex Luthor mini series and the Joker graphic novel better than his work on the primary character of Superman and Batman.

But I bought the Absolute more for the oversized art than the story. It's overpriced, but Amazon.com has if for less than $50.

I've never read Wildcats and from what I read Alan Moore is done with working Wildstorm or any company that has anything to do with DC.

Evidently, his contract for Watchmen stipulated the publishing rights to the graphic novel would revert back to him and Gibbons once it was out of print for five years, but more than 20 years later the books has never been out of print and DC probably never intended for it to be.

He only honored his contracts with Wildstorm because they were signed before DC became the imprint's publisher.

I couldn't get into this run on Superman and dropped it after the first few issues...liked Lee's art but the writing wasn't doing it for me. It was liked they tried to capture the lightning in the bottle of Loeb's and Lee's "Hush" but couldn't do it....

Those were both fantastic. I really liked his Hellblazer run, particularly the opening arc with Richard Corben. It would be interesting to see a collaboration between the two of them set in the DCU. With a character like The Question.

Same thing here. Loved Hush, but just couldn't get into the Superman story. Would rather have more established DC villains in it also.

I never understand delays on mini series. If the company knows they are going to commit to a mini series, complete the entire thing before they solicit it. What is so hard about that? If they are basing it on sales, then I can understand if sales drop and they don't finish it. But if they know no matter what they are going to get it all done, why annoy the fans?

Remember Deathblow? What an incredible artistic experiment on the part of Lee... combining his detailed style with the shadowy look of Frank Miller's noir stuff.

As good as Tim Sale can be, I was always disappointed that he never finished that out. At least it appeared though albeit with a different artist. 1963 Annual? MIA and will never get done.

I've never read Divine Right... is it worth checking out?
