Regarding the 1978 Fantastic Four series, there were only 2 things in it that I felt were good. Casting
Mike Road as Reed Richards and Ted Cassidy as the Thing. The Voice of Sue Richards was all right I suppose., but that's it. The animation is lousy and sloppy. And of course, the mutual hatred of HERBIE and his replacing the Human Torch. The villains were awful and Doctor Doom especially.
The funny thing is, I remember watching the show on NBC on occasion back in 1978 and I remember I liked it back then. But surprisingly, having seen it again for the first time since then, I feel I have been robbed of some fond memories. I even had a coloring book of this cartoon when I was a kid and the character designs were far better.
A crying shame and the Thing and His Ring cartoon must have been dreamed up by someone who was either drunk or high. What I would have loved to have seen was the FF guest appear on SpiderMan and His Amazing Friends, and the best Doctor Doom I've ever seen in animation was on the 1981 solo series in a 5 five part story.
Cheers.
