These books aren't really that bad. I have all 3 issues of Tigerman. That's a nice book. I have a custom almost done of him too. Atlas comics are better than some people give them credit for. IMHO they are alittle treasure from the 70's. Worth hunting down. Not big money worth, but worth owning.

Yeah...I alway's thought that ATLAS was Marvel , prior to Marvel. I even have some Atlas titles pre-marvel...written by Stan the Man like WONDER-DUCK that still flies under the Atlas banner. Then fast-forward a couple decades and I have some Atlas comics that were put out by Marvel like Doc Savage and Reprints of Combat Casey.....It's funny cuz I have the original Combat Casey put out by Atlas...

That a nice set, (32), almost half the total, (61), different Atlas issues printed. I hope you get a good price for them. I always wondering if the Planet of the Vampire comic was base on an old B Sci-Fi Movie of the same title. I never read any issues of the comic or saw the Movie.

Nah; the movie you're thinking of was completely different; although the comic does bear more than a passing resemblance to The Omega Man, and Planet of the Apes.... with a touch of Logan's Run.

Planet of the Vampires was directly inspired by The Omega Man.....as Goodman was too cheap to shell out for the license.

I really enjoyed the planet of the vampire comics.I wish it would have gone further I can't remember if I ever picked up the third one...LOL
The first one blew me away as a kid.
Maybe I'll do a mego custom???

It does kinda stop abruptly. You DID get the feeling that there was a lot going on that we were just starting to see.

                    >Maybe I'll do a mego custom???

I dunno how exciting that'd be, since the characters weren't really visually impressive or distinct. Maybe some of them gang guys in the last issue....

                    >I never saw the Planet of the Vampire movie, only saw at the video rental store years ago.

I THINK it's known better by another name, but I can't remember what. (But I think if I could everyone'd go "YEAH! I saw that one!")

                    >Planet of the Vampires was directly inspired by The Omega Man.....as Goodman was too cheap to shell out for the license.

HAW! I could see that! But they added just enough of a twist to make it more than just a rip. Most of the Atlas books felt like that; like someone said "do something like Spiderman, but not enough that we could get sued!" And they did, but with enough of a twist that it felt distinct. Maybe that's why I feel their books were a missed opportunity: had the run a little longer they might have evolved into something truly spectacular.

I wasn't going to build him for your excitement value.
I just think the main character looks cool on the cover of issue 1.
He looks very Buck Roger like only a little cooler. He would be cool as a mego I think.
