I have mad love for this short-lived era of DC's 52 page line. I always love filling in one of these issues. There were also some titles that had 48 pages and others at 64 pages.

I posted this cover in another thread previously but I had to re-share it again here. I only bought this because I LOVED the cover. It's a Gray Morrow cover. Red Circle was same company as Archie.

Oh that is too cool Kryptomaster.
The art was what made some of those things so great.

I think I still have a few of mine, buried somewhere in the storage unit.

I used to LOVE those comics, even when they gave me nightmares.

Did anyone collect the giant sized black and whites? Like Eerie, etc.?

There was this one storyline that sticks with me to this day, and I haven't read it in forever.

There's a brother and sister, who killed a young boy because their father is spending more time with him than them.

There were a pair of animated skeletons in it, and the young boy came back in the end, with a knife sticking out of his skull, saying that the two skeleton/spectres were now his parents.

I can't remember for the life of me which comic it was in, but I know it scared the you know what out of me.

Does anyone know which comic that story was in?

The old Warren ones? I read tons of 'em when I was a kid.

So, why did you exclude the Marvel Classics?

Was it because they all weren't horror related?

I was never really into those. The only magazines of that type that I read regularly were Planet of the Apes magazine and Famous Monsters (which was really more of a photo book). I do have a few now, though but I can't recall which titles. I know one is a science-fiction one Marvel did and I think another is some Kung-Fu one (that I bought because it featured the tv series Kung-Fu in that issue).

No, just an oversite on my part. I am working on that title too. It is a very hard title to collect. Only have 5 or so books thus far. I am picky with condition. You find these in lower grades now and then.

                    Marvel Classics (36 issues)

I missed most of 'em growing up - I had a couple of magazines: Dracula Lives, Creepy, Eerie, etc. most long since gone. Now, however, I've found the Dark Horse hardcover collections of Creepy and Eerie, and have been buying those to see what I was missing.

I was HUGE into Famous Monsters back in the day, and later followed Marvel's The 'Nam (great, great series).
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

I thought I was the only kid who read Weird War Tales back in the day!

I have the complete run. Typically the most coveted issue is #8 because of the Neal Adams cover.

I loved both the Marvel and DC horror titles of the 70's and still have long runs of each title to this day... one of these days, maybe when I retire, I'll unpack them and revisit the days of my youth!

Heck no. I love Weird War tales. I need about 30 issues to complete the series and I already have #8, haha. It's mostly the later ones I'm tracking down. I have found quite a few at my comic shop but they are priced a little more than I want to pay so I find that if I wait till he's in a good mood he discounts stuff a little more, haha.

I loves me some Eerie, Creepy, 1994/84 and Vampirella. Oddly enough, not so much into the Rook, which is odd because Time Traveling Cowboy seems like a really awesome concept in theory. Huge fan of Richard Corben's stuff and Jose Ganzales' Vampi art rawks.

Also love Heavy Metal and Epic Illustrated.

My comic-collecting began when mom and dad would take me and my brothers to the Krogers as they shopped for grocerys back in the early to mid-70's. We were left in the car with the windows rolled half-down as they shopped for about an hour. They were different times my friend!

We were told to behave and they would bring us each back a comicbook. My brothers would give me theirs after a day or two and so it was that my collection began to grow.

There was no rhyme or reason to mom and dad's selections for us. One week it would be a "Marvel: Two-In-One", the next week it would be a "House of Secrets". There are some "Where Monsters Dwell" stories that have the ability to take me back in time to when I was a ten-year old kid!
