When did the Invisible Girl become the Invisible Woman ?

    No,
This is not a coy sex question

When did the Invisible Girl become the Invisible Woman ?

Was there a specific time in history ? ...

    I'm guessing the late 70's or early 80's ?

It seems the term "Invisible Girl" is no longer used at all, so i'm assuming there must be a definitive moment in time when it was officially changed.

After she rejoined her teammates, Susan stated that Psycho-Man would never hurt anyone ever again. Susan found herself profoundly affected by the entire episode, and decided to change her code name from "Invisible Girl" to "Invisible Woman".[17] Along with Reed, she briefly left the Fantastic Four.[18] Finding a life outside the Fantastic Four, Reed and Sue were invited into the membership of the Avengers.[19] The two of them were Avengers briefly, and rejoined the Fantastic Four before long

          Found this on Marvel's site.

The Rise of Malice and a Name Change
Still traumatized and bitter, Sue was easy prey for the Psycho-Man and his Hate-Monger android, who used their emotion-manipulating powers to amplify Susan's darker impulses, changing her into the mad villainess Malice and turning her against the FF. Freed from their influence by Reed, Sue exacted a chilling revenge on Psycho-Man by subjecting him to his own emotion-warping technology (the Hate-Monger, meanwhile, had been slain by the vigilante Scourge). Sobered by these events, Sue changed her costumed alias to the more mature Invisible Woman, the code-name she uses to this day

I never read comics, so at the time it went right over my head

This happened back around Fantastic Four #281-284 during the Byrne run circa 1985

I was going to say you'd have to ask Reed.

I never knew about it either as by that time I wasn't into 80s comics. Good question.

It seems a minor point for Byrne to have her code name canged but I guess they would also have to get new Trademarks like when he also changed the colors of the costumes.

I remember the issue but not the number back when Reed was missing, when the other members were shocked to see her in her new costume. She did away with the full body jump suit and changed it to something that looked like a one piece swim suit with exposed cleavage, white boots and glove that went to the elbow.
