Favorite version of the Justice League

Do you prefer the Classic series or the Detroit team? Justice league International series? JLA series? or the current team?

I'd vote for the original series as the best, as much as i like the humor of the International team sometimes the "Bwahahaha" was too much

The Classic Silver Age Satellite Era of the JLA is best! For a cut-off date I'd use "Justice League of America" #200....it doesn't get any better than that!

Worse incarnation for me is NOT JLDetroit, believe it or not.....it's the one with Major Disaster (how appropriate), Faith, Manitou Raven, etc. Bleech!

Since there were so many comings and goings of teamers it's hard to pinpoint an exact team that I like above all others but generally I prefer the JLoA from about the mid 70's to just before Aquaman took over as leader with all the crappy characters like Vibe, Gypsy, Vixen, etc. Probably around the time George Perez was pencilling it.
I also have a soft spot for the Maguire JLA but I know what you're talking about when you say too much BWAHAHAHAHA. I also liked when that era brought back Superman, Green Lantern, etc (the BIG guns) into the fold but still gotta go with my first mention above as overall preference.

Does it have to be a comic book? My favorite version is the Justice League Unlimited animated series. Just about perfect.

I'm fond of the original 50 or so issues, the Dematteis/Giffen stuff and Morrison's run.

LOVE the JLU series too, even the comic was very good.

The pre-satellite days, before they got sorta preachy and Green arrow turned into a hippie. The Giffen/Dematteis stuff was great, too.

Satellite era is the best for me. Followed by Morrison's run. He brought the majesty back. Too bad he was afflicted with current continuity like Electric Supes and Hippolyta as WW. I was fond of the JLI League when they balanced the humor with action. The first 12 or so issues were great, also the Despero and Vampire arcs were good too. The rest was too "bwahaha", honestly. I admire the Fox/Sekowsky era, but honestly, Fox's writing style leaves me a bit cold. Even for the time I felt he was overly wordy. He did have great ideas though. Len Wein is my favorite classic JLA writer. Conway was hit or miss, but when he hit, he hit it out of the park (see JLA #200).

One era I enjoyed that gets forgotten was the post Giffen/Dematies JLA team, written and drawn by Dan Jurgens, with Superman in the lead. It was essentially the previous core team plus Superman. Of course "The Death of Superman" ran through some issues of this. The following issues featuring "Destiny's Hand" were fantastic, and one of the best alternate reality stories ran in comics.

Yup, before '73 was my favorite as well.. I only got back into 'em with the Maguire JLA in the early '80s, when it was quite a hoot with Batman and Guy Gardener punching each other out.

Just give me the classic characters.

Forgot to add the Morrison era, tho Howard Porter's art really annoyed me.

I don't know much about comicbooks but I like that 5 member lineup from that 90s JLA TBP ---HAL, BARRY, AQUAMAN, BLACK CANARY and J'ONN
(I think it was called YEAR ONE----we've discussed around here before)

It'd be cool though to "make your own" JLA

Mine would probably be SUPES, BATS, AQUAMAN, WONDER WOMAN,
BLACK CANARY, ATOM, CREEPER and if I was allowed an 8th it'd be
                        PLASTIC MAN

Many of the "popular" DC heroes are my favorites to be in a "super-team"/JLA
except CREEPER who I'd like to see in a high profile situation for ONCE.

.....Seems I'm still waiting for a favourite version? I liked the seventies stuff, and collected all the "Bwah ha ha" series as it was entertaining and fun during an overall dark period of comic book writing. All in all though, I always preferred the JSA. Golden Age, and Silver Age All-Star (both titles).

Agreed. I loved Morrison's Magnificent Seven take. I absolutely loved Joe Kelly's run on the title!
