He left them at his mother's house for decades. Well she died back in the early 80's and he went back home (rural Pennsylvania. I believe Reynoldsville)for the funeral, etc and he told me he was going to bring back all his old comics for me. Of course I was so excited. Well he comes back empty-handed. Told me he used to send his mom money and she didn't believe in banks so she hid her money in books, etc in the house and when she died all his relatives ransacked the house looking for money and he said all the comics were torn up as they were looking for cash so he didn't bother trying to bring any of them back.

Reminds me of the story my uncle told me. Said he use to have lots of the Marvel stuff from the 60s like Spider-Man,Fantastic Four,X-Men and so on. He wound up selling them all for drug money.

I also would prefer to own some original Art...by a certain Artist.

But if I had to pick one Comic(and Money was no object)...it would of course have to be "Detective#27".

That would be my choice as well.

most likely the least valuable comic mentioned here but i've always like cover of x-men 100 old vs new. i'm sure i could find a nice copy for less then $15 but i spent money on toys instead.

Amazing Fantasy #15. I'm just a Spidey guy. If the Amazing Fantasy actually it had been Amazing Adult Fantasy originally, hadn't been slated for cancellation, Spidey may never have been given a shot. Fortunately he was.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Detective 27 would be cool. I owned all the Marvel keys many years back so first Batman.

Action 1, Marvel Mystery 1 and Detective 27 are the natural answers because of their value, but if I could have just one golden-age book, it would be All-Star Comics 36. It's the issue where Superman and Batman guest star with the JSA. I've only seen the book in person once. $400 was too much for me even to think about at the time.

Batman 47 is another cool story. It's a retelling of Batman's origin where he tracks down Joe Chill, his parents' murderer. It's my favorite golden-age Batman story.

Superman 53 retells Superman's origin and its around his 10th anniversary is a cool comic it. I had it before, but I sold when I sold off of my collection in the early 1990s

                          Ditko!! Or rather, Ditto!!...LOL!!

I too would actually probably rather drop the big bucks on original art. I often find myself visiting romitaman.com and contemplating selling all of my toys...

As long as we are wishing on a star, I'd just want to get the comics I was duped out of when I was 8 (1975). An older friend talked me into selling my old comics to a book store that had just started to carry back issues. He told me I could get $$$ and at the time it sounded good. I took a full brown paper shopping bag up and was talked into letting them go for $20.
there were a lot of cool comics in that bag I still remember my Uncle reading with me. The best Ive been able to do is pick a few up here or there if I remember the story or the cover. my most recent buy backs were a story of Batman and Superman in a German WW2 detention camp and a Captain America where Falcon turned into a Wolf man. I had forgotten them for years. It's weird how just seeing a cover triggers so much.

Well an obvious choice I guess but I'd say Amazing Fantasy #15, it's a great story and fantastic cover art (you can't go wrong with a book that's got Kirby AND Ditko).

Other less obvious choices would be Tales of Suspense #1, Tales To Astonish #1 (I love the old sci-fi/monster, pre-super hero issues of those series!) Also, slightly more realistically attainable someday I guess would be a 9.0 or up graded copy of G.I. Joe #1 (1982)
