    Wachowski Brothers to "Re-Boot" SUPERMAN?

I'm not sure if this is good news, or not...while the first Matrix was a SiFi Masterpiece...they really LOST IT after that. But...a "re-Boot" gives Me hope that they could get Tom Welling to play Supes!

Here's a small part of the Article:

"Bryan Singer has refused to undertake a re-boot of the Superman franchise and has left the Executives at WB with no choice but to take a fresh creative direction.

    This is it....

    - He stated the Wachowski Brothers had been approached to re-boot the franchise as a trilogy and they are currently reviewing their options."

I wonder if WB wouldn't let Singer redo another Donner tribute or use Roush?

Well, seeing how long it took to make Superman Returns and all the false starts and reports about who was directing and who was starring in it; I wouldn't hold my breath on anything I hear until they start making the movie.
Anyone remember the Nick Cage rumor?

        >Anyone remember the Nick Cage rumor?

I remember reading that he WAS picked up to play the part, but they dropped him 'cos he complained too much about all the changes they were making. (This was back around the black suit/doesn't fly/fights a polar bear time.) I guess Cage is a Superman fan.

What REALLY bugs me about this sort of thing is how they feel the need ro "reboot" things. Y'know, you could just make a movie with Superman in it WITHOUT getting into his background, or changing his origin, or anything like that. I doubt there's anyone who DOESN'T know who Superman is, and even if there is; it's not a tough concept to pick up. "Superstrong guy flies and fights crooks." There. That's all you really need to know. Took me six words, and one fo those is an article, so it doesn't count.

I'm glad to know there's no interest in continuing what Singer started with Routh. Yawn.

Not sure about the Wachowskis--I like that they took a fun, colorful approach to Speed Racer (that no one wanted to see including me) so they don't have to remake Matrix with a cape. I worry about that impulse to make Superman dark like Batman.

I am still holding out for Quentin Tarantino and Roberto Rodriguez and Frank Miller to get together and do Superman. If they can't do Superman, maybe a reboot of Vampirella. Okay, that last one is real.

I agree that an origin story film for Superman is probably not needed. His nearly constant multi media presence for 50 years makes his origin very well known from almost anyone who doesn't live in a wood shack in the amazon jungle.

SIMPLE film needs a youthful (28-38) man with a decent physique (who can act) in the red and blue suit, preferably fighting some interesting villian like braniac, Bizarro, The parasite, a Mad Scientist Luthor (i am tired of evil business man lex), Darkseid, even Metallo or intergang.

                  70+ years but who's quibbling?
Please NOT another movie with Luthor as the villain! Tired of that. Pick ANYONE else.

The Wachoski's were attached to Plastic Man not too long ago.

Not sure whos a what in the Wachoski family, but I do know they previously pitched a trilogy of Superman films with Brendan Fraser as Supes back before Returns was made. 1st film was the origin(Birth of Superman), second was the Life of Superman, and the last(The Death of Superman) featured not just the death of Superman, but as Brendan Fraser has stated, the last scene of the last film showed a lone Superman, far in the future, standing on a long dead Earth watching the sun go supernova and destroying the solar system in its wake...effectively ending Supes life as well I guess!?

As for the Cage film (I believe it was called Superman:Reborn)this wasnt just a rumor, and was only cut after Warner execs saw footage of Cage in a Superman outfit and could not stop laughing...seriously!! I have a pic of him in the classic suit...it's a knee slapper. Tim Burton was the director. Hasbro had already begun production on the toys and filming was a matter of days away from starting. The script is on line somewhere. L-Ron, from the old Justice Leagues of the late eighties was in it as a "gay robot" that helps revive Superman after his death (thats how the script worded it). A real super stinkeroo in the making!

I thought he only wore that body armor suit like the Kenner prototype figure? I didn't know he tested a classic suit.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
