All I got to say is... that looks horrible. I'd rather see a Adventure team cheesy 70's type Joe movie than this piece of stinkburger.

I'm going to give the film a shot. You never know. When I first saw the teaser for Batman Begins .......I was completely thinking suck fest. Then I saw the film. I think it'll be okay.

BTW.... I havent watched this trailer yet, But Has anyone seen what Cobra Commander is going to look like yet ?

It doesn't look bad, but other than a glimpse of Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow, it doesn't look much like GI Joe. I was pleasantly surprised with Transformers, so I'll wait and see.

I dunno; you'd think something like GI Joe would be pretty easy to port over to film: "team of tough guys fight villains and blow stuff up." Simple. But the movie's added geneticly enhanced soldiers, Japanese cartoon style power suits, and who knows what else. It's like a film based on the 90's GI Joe. With the aliens. And day-glo ninjas.

"But... The Matrix was KEWEL!!! Let's do it like that!" What're the odds Snake Eyes does a pan-and-scan dodge of machinegun fire?

man some of you guys are already hating on this movie after just watching a 1 minute commercial that i think looked bad ***! I guess the older folks who weren't into Gi Joe won't dig this.but us 80's kids will

Plus keep in mind that it looks to be the first of a few films,so every character and every detail won't be in the 1st one remember the 1st 10 episodes of the Cartoon? they weren't all that great, but in 83-84 they started to be freakin' awesome

Eh hem! I am an 80s kid and grew up with GI JOE, Thundercats, MOTU, etc and I still think it looks terrible.

Zartan and Destro wear business suits. Everybody else wears black XMEN movie-ish outfits. JOE, COBRA, the Cobra Troopers, everybody. Again it makes Baroness and Snake Eyes less cool and unique when everybody else is dressing exactly the same. Throw in loads of overdone CGI exposions and Matrix rip off slow mo and you have what looks to be a real stinker on your hands, in my opinion.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

lol! yeah but you don't expect Zartan and Destro to look like that the whole time right? All I'm saying is,give it a chance. It might surprise you I do get what you're saying about the uniforms,But it's what's in right now.So i guess they feel that's what this generation wants to see.All those kids who watch that Gi joe vs Valor crap and that's a bigger audience then the 80's kids like you and I.

Whatever. I suppose everyone Has an Opinion,.. I remember all the Bashing about Tranformers,.. before people saw it too.

I think the Minute Trailer was great..., If others don't like it,.. I dunno what to say. I think the Movie has the Possiblity of Being a Good Film,.. & Ultimately, thats all that Matters to be.

The People Incharge of creating this Movie,.. were Die hard Joe Fan's of the 80's too,.. this an't the factor of a Ang Lee Hulk Abortion,.. or a Batman & Robin Movie. The people that Made this,.. claim alot of forethought Went into the Fans of this,.. & say the outcome will be good.

As far as everyone Wearing the Black Suits..., Sure some of that might have gone a little too far,.. however With today's technology & Military Advancements,.. if these guys were really running around in a Sercret Op's Division,.. thats probably more so what they would be wearing. No ones going to be running around in a # 01 FootBall Jersey,.. or a Flipp'in 70's Fly Pimp Colar.

                        So whatever,.. Bash away.
I personally will reserve my final comments on the Film it's self,.. not a 60 Second Trailer.

                            >(AKA sigma 6) and you might see some disctinct similiarty to the style of the trailer

That's kinda what I was thinking. Although a lot of comics and cartoons I like are Japanese, I don't think everything should follow that template.

                            >With today's technology & Military Advancements,.. if these guys were really running around in a Sercret Op's Division,.. thats probably more so what they would be wearing.

Maybe. But the problem for me is that subscribing to the "correct" way of doing things kinda takes away some of the originality from the idea. A lot of the old outfits were silly; but that was part of the story. (Although the earliest RAH Joes seemed to wear a fatigue pant/jungle boot/turtleneck combo that was pretty close to a real world military outfit.) The new look is way too similar to the new X-Men for me. Which was way to similar to The Matrix for me. Which means everything's kinda looking the same. For me, the biggest sin any branch of entertainment can commit is intellectual inbreeding.

                            >I personally will reserve my final comments on the Film it's self

Which, really; is all you CAN do. But if they're gonna put out an ad I'm gonna develop an opinion on it.

                            Don C.

I think people start throwing around cliches like "hater" and "hating" when they can't effectively argue valid criticisms.

I've been following news of the GI JOE movie since the beginning and the movie just comes off so stereotypically Hollywood cookie cutter. Like they went down a list going: "Black S&M Matrix outfits, check. Slow Mo camera, check. Huge CGI explosions, check" and so on. Finished off with a sprinkling of Hollywood buzzwords that execs love like "edgy," "trendy" and "re-imagined" and by doing so wringing out all the the uniqueness of the property by trying to squeeze it into the same old mold of easily digestible pap they've been shoving down the throats of the mass market.

Maybe the general movie going audience unfamilair with the property will eat it up. You know, they probably will. After all they gorge on reality TV and Britney Spears sells millions of albums. But just because something is popular, doesn't make it good.

Sommers used slo-mo and "CGI explosions" in his Mummy movies, the first one of which came out the same month as the first Matrix, almost 10 years ago. Slo-mo has been a feature of action movies since Sam Peckinpaw in the 60s. Explosions have been part of action films since the Bond movies of the 60s. Black suits are wholly appropriate for a covert ops outfit. I agree that the sameness of such suits would take away from the individuality of Snake Eyes and the Baroness, but if you look a little closer you'll notice that both of those characters have uniquely styled costumes, distinct from the generic black suit the other JOEs wear.

I think the trailer looks terrific, and it feels very GI JOE to me. If you disagree, that's unfortunate, but I'm lovin' it.
