Hi Guys!
Thanks for coming back for week #2 of Late Night Friday 1970s Comic Book Trivia! Hope everybody had a great week, looking forward to a great weekend!
And congratulations again to Week One Winner MONSTERAMA2000- hope you liked the prize pack!
To get things rolling, here's a nifty little ditty by Pop superstar Billy Joel. Now what you may ask does Billy Joel have to do with either comic books or Megos? Well, actually not a thing. I was reminded this week that not only was Billy married to supermodel Christie Brinkley, but that he also once dated a 19 year old Elle MacPherson. And buddy, that's pretty awesome in my book!
Anyway, here's something you may or may not have heard:
YouTube - Root Beer Rag / Billy Joel
Pretty cool, huh? From a guy who cannot for the life of me figure out how each finger can hit a piano key in the correct order and that fast, I think that's fantastic. Whenever I tried to play piano the only sound was the discordant jar of ten different keys banging as one. Yikes!
For any newcomers, here's da rulz:
I'll post five (5) questions about the 1970s ERA COMIC BOOK related adventures of various MEGO figures.
First person to answer all of them correctly will get a little prize package of a random '70s comic, a couple random Mego cards, and some assorted 1970s oddball goodies. Now don't get too excited...you're not gonna get anything worth a million bucks. Actually, the junk I plan to unload on the "winner"...excuse me, I mean, the fine collectible items I plan to offer as prizes will entertain you (I hope), and we'll all have a good time.
And just maybe, if you're not too careful, you just might learn something. Or not.
As far as the answers, please try to keep them all together in one post so we don't have to jump around collecting them all, and since I don't have any anti-Googling software in place I can't stop you there.
Oh, and please remember that all answers are subject to the final decision of the judge, which be me, so no arguing, it's all for fun, so let's not get crazy!
So without further ado, in the words of the Immortal Navin Johnson, "Step right up and win some crap!"
MEGO STAR QUESTION #1- SPIDER-MAN:
You know, Spider-Man has a bad reputation as being a loser with the ladies, undeserved I might add. In fact, ol' Petey has had more than his share of babes, from Gorgeous Gwen to Marvelous Mary Jane. But in 1979, Spidey had a Marvel Team-up with a really wild babe name of Red Sonja who helped him fight an old Conan villain!
My question is: What method of time-travel did Red Sonja use to get to 1979 New York?
MEGO STAR QUESTION #2- CONAN THE BARBARIAN:
A thief, a reaver, a slayer...you cannot underestimate how important Conan is to bronze-age Marvel Comics, and vice-versa. He was huge at Marvel, headlining about a million titles. Of course, you all know that Red Sonja first appeared in Conan. But before that, the Cimmerian met another swordswoman with a "red" connection.
My question is: Who was this first liberated woman to cross swords and swap spit with Conan?
MEGO STAR QUESTION #3- FONZIE from HAPPY DAYS:
Yes, Richie, Potsie, and the Fonz starred in a bief run of Gold Key comics in the late '70s. And although he never teamed up with Red Sonja, the Fonz did have Pinky Tuscadero. And if anyone could have got to first base with Red Sonja, it would have been the coolest JD of the fifties! HAYYYYY! Whoa!
My question is: What do Fonzie, Marcia Brady, Popeye, and Lassie have in common?
MEGO STAR QUESTION #4- ROBIN THE BOY WONDER:
Dick Grayson is a "goer", nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say no more Squire! "Master Dick" (Alfred is paid extra to call him that in front of the ladies) has a reputation as a bit of a dog around the DC Universe, having scored with Batgirl, Starfire, The Huntress, and probably Donna Troy.
My question is: What was the name of Dick Grayson's girlfriend when he attended Hudson University?
MEGO STAR QUESTION #5- IRON MAN:
Tony Stark also likes the ladies, and from Pepper Potts to Janet Van Dyne, the Armored Avenger has done ok for himself in the love department. It's good to be rich and powerful.
My question is: Tony has had relationships with two women named Bambi & Whitney. By what names are they better known?
Ok, so there you have it. On the count of three, you may begin!
1...2...3...GO!!!
