Are the Gren Lantern Lantern Batteries Interchangeable?
I remember scenes of Hal and other modern GLs all recharging their rings from only one's battery (but each saying their own oath).
At least in the old continuity, I don't think Alan could charge his ring of Hal's as Hal's was Oan supertechnology and Alan's was magic -- as you may recall, Alan's ring was originally a tiny replica of the magic green lantern and actually had a tiny flame burning in it that he had to touch to the "main" lantern's flame (relighting it, I guess) once per day to renew.
But I know they've run their rings and origins together in recent retellings and reboots, so I'm not sure . . .
Alan's ring is magic based...it is actually the energy of all the supernatural & magical elements on OA that the Guardians expelled and formed into an energy thingie called the Star Heart. For awhile, Alan Scott internalized the starheart power and was de-aged and powered up constantly, he never had to charge his ring. They've since went back to the power being in the battery.
All the Oan based Green Rings and batteries are interchangeable and ant GL can charge his ring at any other GREEN GL's battery or at the main Battery on Oa.
As far as the various colored rings go, it's been shown that the blue battery will actually overload and explode the Green ring of power. And I think at one time the yellow battery could drain the power out of the green ring, but I'm not certain on that anymore.
