    Dark Knight Sweeps "People's Choice"

    Good for you Batman!

LOS ANGELES – Holy People's Choice Awards, Batman!

"The Dark Knight" soared away with every trophy it was nominated for Wednesday at the 35th annual fan-favorite CBS ceremony. The caped crusader flick won five awards, including favorite cast, superhero, action movie and on-screen matchup for Christian Bale's Batman and the late Heath Ledger's Joker.

"On behalf of all of the cast from the movie, thank you very much to the fans," said Bale. "Here's to Heath."
Do they HAVE to begin this story with the cliched "Holy..." though?

The "Holy" thing? Why not? Pretty appropriate.
One of the most successful movies of all-time sweeps "People Choice"
awards----of course it makes sense to use the popular culture reference
    this is the bigtime, man.

Congrats on Batman (along with Spidey in 2nd) leading the pack in this
mass superhero resurgance that hasn't been seen since we were little kids

Yeah but you'd think after 40 years, especially with the realistic tone of "The Dark Knight", you should be able to write or read an article about Batman without referencing the campy "Holy...., Batman!" line from the TV show. If anything, "The Dark Knight" proves that super-heroes and the genre can be taken "seriously" (as much as you can for a guy that dresses up like a giant bat and fights a clown ) and need not rely on the public's past association of Batman with the 60s TV show.
"This ain't your father's Batman, kid!" It's time to move on...

        Personally, I just think it's a credit to the 60s BATMAN....what endurance
        threre.

There's room in this world for multiple Batmans...I think it
        only helps our "superhero" cause.

Please excuse me...I'm just a superhero fan and appreciate all sides
        of the superhero coin.

Again, as much as I take sides, criticize and whatever...
I'm really relishing the abundance of superhero stuff these days.

Batman can become a Horror/slasher movie and Journalist will always start a Batman Story with that line. It just can't seem to shake off that stigma.

Well.... the news and public have VERY short and compressed memories. It's kinda the same reason we get the "Comic Books is all growed up!!!!" articles every ten years or so. (I'm pretty sure comics was all growed up right around the time Crumb started publishing stuff. Earlier, if you count the newspaper strips. Chester Ghould wasn't exactly kid-firendly.)

Comic books STILL don't get a lot of respect as a medium. Case in point: how many people loved the Batman movie, will watch it over and over, but woul never think to pick up an issue of the book?
