    Doomsday on Smallville

Okay, before we get started, let's get this out of the way:

    "Smallvile sucks!"
    "Is that still on?"
"I wish they'd just cancel it"

I hope that caught it all. I will admit that I don't like everything they do on Smallville, and the limitations put on the show by the creators, and WB trying not to water down the movie franchise does hold the show back. But they have surprised me this season, and despite a few things I wish they could change, they have definitely moved past the Dawson's Creek-style teen angst.

Last night Doomsday appeared. No, really. He was kept in shadow a lot, but what you saw of him looked straight up from the comics. When they announced Doomsday would be brought in as a human EMT, I thought they had really done it this time, and the show was hopeless. Turns out they actually ADDED to the character of Doomsday, and made him even more of a convincing threat, and took the comic backstory, and tied it into two major Superman villains, and it all fits really well.

Last night was a mid-season cliffhanger. New shows don't air until Jan. 15. The Legion of Super Heroes is stopping by to help with Doomsday.

If you ever liked this show and haven't watched it in a while, give it another try. I was about ready to give up on it, but this is shaping up to be the best season yet.

I love the show but hate that they brought Lana back. I hope she dies off soon. Great show last night.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet and I didn't realize they had announced Doomsday was coming, BUT I did enjoy how they've brought this character in. He was just an EMT for an episode or two when they misdirected the audience (a little) making him look like the killer when it was some shadow creature. Did you notice during that episode, a witness gave a bad description of a guy with "ricks" for eyebrows. That's when I thought Doomsday was coming to the show.

Well, the shadow guy was exposed as a copy-cat killer. He wasn't the monster doing most of the damage. It was Doomsday/Davis who wrecked the Ace of Spades club.

It surprised me they had him fully become Doomsday so soon, if it at all. I thought they might just spend the whole season alluding to his monster state, and if they showed it, he'd be proto-Doomsday. They went all out!

never been a doomsday fan and i knew the whole death of superman saga was just a desperate gimmick. i would love to see a darkseid episode if their going far fetch from now on but i did watch it last night and doomsday did look pretty cool.

To View or Not to View

I've been stacking all the episodes up in the DVR. I have all the seasons but the one just passed. I'm trying to decide if I really want to watch ANYthing first run anymore - or from the DVR - or just wait until it shows up at Wal-Mart or Target on Super Tuesday.

(I just happened to be in Target and saw a collection of the Superman movies for like $9.99. Now all I have to do is track down the Donner Superman II)

But that's not why you called...

I guess what I'll do is watch all the episodes up through last night before the Legion episode. That's the one I'm really looking forward to. I've kinda been hoping/expecting a LSH episode from the beginning. Geek that I am...

Good to hear that last night's episode was so good! It's been a while since I read the Death of Superman; Doomsday was kind of flimsy. I know he was just meant to be the instrument of Superman's death for a larger story, but there was no there there.

I love how Lois has finally realized that Clark is the one she loves. Always trying to convince herself and others that "Smallville" is just a farmboy and not the guy for her. Lana sure spoiled that kiss, didn't she? LOL

Yeah, they are really fleshing out the Clark/Lois romance well. Erica Durance has acting chops I didn't know she had. Her performance as the possessed Lois a few episodes back was great. She came off as a totally different character with ease.

I was dreading Lana coming back, but there is obviously more to it than what's on the surface. This may prove interesting, and not actually derail the rest of the show as her plots tended to do from season 1 on.

I too wish they hadn't brought Lana back, I've really come to despise Her. And the build up to Doomsday was a bit too slow...but I thought He looked pretty cool. Finally there's a real Monster for Clark to hit! Can't wait til Jan.15!!!

To me,the shot at the end is what made the episode.

I agree the show seems to be picking up steam again. I was ready to stop watching it. Doomsday definately looked cool.
That being said the show has gotten tired and I hope they end it this year.
P.S. Lana may be annoying but she sure looked cute in this episode.
