Anyone know if DC's Sea Devils have every been reprinted?

I stumbled across this series while looking for some other stuff. Never really heard of this team or know anything about them. But the covers are SUPER cool!

Looked the regular series along with the Showcase try-out issues up in the Overstreet. Yikes! They're expensive even in low grade.

Does anyone know if these were reprinted and where? Silver age DC has a tendancy to be a bit dull so I'd like see what the series is like art and storywise before plunking down that kind of money.

If they haven't been reprinted, can anyone vouch for this series?

I can't think of a Sea Devils reprint I own off the top of my head, which is weird, because I have Tommy Tomorrow, Cave Carson, and other similar SF/adventure reprints about.

Here's a link to GCD's index of Sea Devils appearances. Doesn't look like many reprints listed there, if any, but it may omit reprints.

Pretty sure there were some reprints in some of the 100 page Giants of the 70's. Possibly Brave and the Bold.

I forget if there were some reprints in the 70s but there have been no reprint collections of The Sea Devils.

Sea Devils was a great silver Age DC series- spectacular art by Russ Heath on most of them, Joe Kubert too. Great gray-wash covers.
The series was about 4 daredevil deep sea divers- Dane Dorrance the brainy leader...Biff his tough guy best friend... Judy his girlfriend..and Nicky her kid brother (recognize a pattern?). They mostly fought monsters, aliens, and lost civilizations under the sea.
There were SD reprints in Action Comics #437 & #443..if there were any others I can't think of them. I think if you haunt Ebay you can find some of them in reading condition for a decent price. Any issues would do, they were all pretty much stand alone stories.

^^^ I see the pattern, it was basically Challengers of the Unknown under the sea with the family dynamic of the FF thrown in for kicks.

DC also used the same basic grouping or a close variation thereof in a lot of their team books besides the Challs & the Sea Devils:

RIP HUNTER TIME MASTER (Rip, Jeff, Bonnie, & Corky)... CAVE CARSON (Cave, Bulldozer, Christie, & Johnny).. SUICIDE SQUAD/TASK FORCE X (Rick Flagg, Hugh Evans, Karin Grace, & Jess Bright)...ORIGINAL TEEN TITANS (Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Aqualad)...and to some extent in ATOMIC KNIGHTS (Gardner Grayle, Bryndon, Maureen Herald, Doug Herald + the additional Hobard Twins).

                Chris,
I know I have been out of the comic loop for a long time, since 98, read DC mainly before Crisis on Infinite Earth storyline. If my memory serves me right. Wasn't Tommy Tomorrow, a different version of Kamandi on one the parallel earths before Crisis destroyed most of the earths and merged the remaining 6-8? (1, 2, prime ,etc..)

After Crisis on Infinite Earths, either in the pages of Crisis or History of the DCU. It was shown that a boy was found in Command Bunker D and adopted by a General or Captain Tommorrow.

The Tommy Tomorrow/Kamandi thing was first introduced in Crisis #12....I think it was a way to get rid of the future earth/alternate timeline of Kamandi but DC eventually went back to that anyway.

Kamandi was too good to stay detuned into Tommy tomorrow!!

This is a title that needs to be reprinted!!

DC should consider a reprint title of some of their more obscure characters from the fifties and sixties...beats anything their printing nowadays!!
