If the monthly floppies go up one more penny, I'm quiting all of them.

I figure they're cancelling "Nightwing" and "Robin" because those two will be involved in this upcoming "Battle for the Cowl" BS that's taking place after "Batman R.I.P." concludes. Not sure on "Birds of Prey" but I think that title has gone downhill since Gail Simone left the book. I dropped it several issues back after hanging on much longer than I should have. Tony Bedard and the other fill-in writers since Simone just suck IMO.

After "R.I.P." concludes (hey I'm in this far...) and the special issues by Neil Gaiman and Denny O'Neil, I think I'm gonna hang up MY cowl for a while too. The recent turn of events and the whole "killing" of Bruce Wayne/Batman just sickens me...if it's true, it's STUPID...if it's just a sales ploy, then it's disgusting. Either way, I want out of Gotham for a while...as well as anything written by Grant Morrison. With the exception of "All-Star Superman", he's written a lot of crap this last year so.

Being a life-long Batman and DC fan I'm thoroughly disgusted and disenchanted by how they've managed to muck up a lot of the DCU in the last, oh, 5 years or so....so much so that's it's just not fun anymore in most areas of the DCU. The only light of hope IMO are the books written by Geoff Johns...his Green Lantern titles are always solid, his Action Comics is great, JSA not bad (Alex Ross needs to stay on just covers though and stop the co-plotting), Legion of 3 Worlds fantastic....I'm looking forward to his Flash:Rebirth as well. Unfortunately Mr Johns can't write ever title...so I'm sure a lot more garbage will manage to seep it's way through.

Oh...and Booster Gold....that's a shining beacon at the moment as well....

Apparently "Red Robin" is replacing "Nightwing" as a monthly (Jason Todd maybe?) and "Batman and Robin" is replacing "Robin" (so is that Dick Grayson under the cowl with Tim Drake as sidekick?)

Grayson under the cowl with drake as sidekick could be cool, but no bruce no batman as far as I'm concerned.

I hope if Todd Becomes Red Robin,.. they give us A better suit than was in Kingdom Come.. I just want something new & Fresh.

I also am alittle concerned about the direction of the Bat Family Books.
.. I dunno How Much I will Buy,.. Bruce is Bats & thats it to me.

I never really cared for the NightWing Book,.. the few issues I bought ,.. Have always Left me so, so. I get more enjoyment outta the character when He's with the Titan's or Shows up in Batman or a Robin Book.

The Robin Book has had it's Hit's & Miss'es,.. However Has always had alot more possitives in the book Then Negatives imo.

I am Scared for this new Direction of Batman,.. Bottom Line. Dick is not Bruce, & Bruce's Character is what Makes Batman.

Yeah, wake me up when the nightmare is over.

I made it through this crap with Azreal as Batman in the 1990s. then Dick filled in for a few issues before Bruce was back.

I have to say Captain America has been a great read since the death of Steve Rogers, but I do await the return of the real Cap.

It's kind ironic that DC took Brubaker off Batman and now they are following a similar course as he took Cap only year and a half later.

If the stories are good I'll read them, but the quicker Bruce is back the better.

Morrison and Miller have gotten all the ink with their work on Batman and All Star Batman, but Paul Dini's run on Detective has been far more readable.

The parrallels between Cap and Bats are kinda funny. Back from the dead sidekick and then the guy under the mask gets it. If the Red Robin title is replacing Nightwing and Dick was Red Robin in KC, maybe Jason is getting the Bat job.

Don't read NW or Robin, but I did get Birds of Prey. great title under Gail Simone...ahhh, not so good after she left. Bedard doesn't get the concept, they've jumped it around so much with teammates, locales, etc. Even the continuity is ridiculous now (no longer a necessity for writers apparently)- witness the recent Joker storyline which ignores the facts that Babs has met Joker face to face at least twice since the killing joke storyline.

Taking out the Black Canary (to involve her in that horrible, horrible Green Arrow series and the inane wedding crap) was a mistake. Huntress is a great character, but she's not BC (ditto Manhunter). Best thing about the title- LADY BLACKHAWK. Wish DC Direct would do a LB mini-bust or statue!

Johnston reported these as rumors a while back. Looks like they are true.

I'm glad I jumped ship when I did. With Dark Knight breaking box office records left and right, DC would have been smart to put some strong creators and a strong editor on the Bat-books and give their best to traditional Batman stories, not stream-of-consciousness writing that is supposed to impress us with how obscure the story references are.

I enjoyed "Prodigal" with Dick as Batman, esp. after the AzBats debacle. But everyone knew Bruce would be back soon and it was temporary. He was never dead, he just took a break. To kill a character like Batman is to violate the last tinge of realism that exists about the character, because at some point Bruce will be resurrected. And if they don't kill him and make him insane, then that just undermines the character even more.

I would like to see comics go back to the days where editors were stewards of the character, and wouldn't allow writers and artists to destroy the characters just to sell a few books and stroke their inflated egos. I'm glad I'm out and gone.

The Bat-books haven't really been good over all since the late 90s when Chuck Dixon wrote Detective, Nightwing, Robin and Birds of Prey.

Vote by not buying fellas. This is starting to feel like the anti-Marvel days of the mid 90s, there isn't much in the DCU that seems bright to me these days. I seem to be buying mostly the kids titles.

                              Exactly. Preach on Brother B.

Don't like it? Don't just complain, don't buy. If enough people drop these titles, DC will be forced to realize what they are doing wrong. Just look at the Flash relaunch with Bart as Flash. First issue sold well, 2nd issue dropped a LOT, by issue 3 it was in the toilet, and the creative team was quickly replaced and the cancellation was then planned. Wish they hadn't killed Bart, but DC did try to give fans what they wanted, but Waid's new take just wasn't most's cup of tea.
