Maguire and Raimi Sign On for "Spidey" 4 and 5

But apparently Kirsten Dunst has not signed up yet...I say good riddance if she chooses not to return. Her Mary Jane Watson was not the fun-loving MJ most associate with the character. She was sorta a drag IMO.

Sign up Bryce Dallas Howard instead as Gwen Stacy!

Villains being tossed around include the Lizard (Curt Connors has already been set up in previous flicks) as well as Man-Wolf (same for John Jameson). I could see both animal-based vilains being incorporated into the same storyline....maybe even a nod from Dr. Michael Morbius?

Great. Tobey is going to be 40 years old by the time principal shooting for movie number 5. He is good, though...

I'd really like to see a variation of Kraven's last hunt. I'm not a huge Marvel guy, but that story arc was terrific and great art by Mike Zeck. I've always though kind of an oddball choice for that role would be Ben Stiller. He can go over the top at times, but he's got that "inner psycho" behind his eyes that could be brought out with the right director.

As long as we see no more Venom or even worse, Carnage pushed into the movie by studio suits.

This is GREAT news! I LOVED the first three although I DESPISE cast changes in sequels so I hope Dunst returns. I actually liked her in the films but it would suck if they got another MJ as Dunst is already established as that character. It would've been like getting a different Lois Lane than Kidder in the Reeve films...it would just stink. I'd even be happy if Dunst just makes a cameo as MJ and then the character travels away at the beginning to go to Hollywood to pursue an acting career...then Peter could start up with Gwen after MJ leaves in the first act of the film. Kind of like Clark Kent did with Lana Lang in Superman III; with the uninterested Kidder being wrtiten out early on...much better than outright replacing the actress who plays an established character through three films already...

They can get rid of MJ all together imo.
The character & Dunst was the 1 Flaw I disliked in all the movies... She was ok in the 1st film,.. but after that,.. I didn't care for any of the character/Dunst sceens. & When Gwen Showed up,.. & wanted to jump in the Movie & smack Peter in the face... " wake -up,.. what are you doing " !?!

Well again, love her or hate her, she should stay. I couldn't, and still can't, stand Katie Holmes. I just can't stand her and her very presence on the screen irritates the hell out of me. I did, however, STILL wish she reprised her role and remained Rachel Dawes in Batman:The Dark Knight. I just think casting changes stink once a character is established, what usually results is the new actor or actress simply plays their predecessor playing the said character ala Brandon Routh. It's inevitable when a character is established; not to mention that it's a blatant mark of inconsistency in a visual story...

                            Ha!!...

I really didn't care for Dunst in the role and was really displeased with the last film. Probably too much input from the "suits", as someone stated before. Raimi is one of my all time favorite directors and I think he will right the wrongs with the next film. My vote is for Gwen, over MJ. I also really hope to see the Lizard, though Electro or Mysterio would be almost as cool.

You can't get rid of MJ in the Spiderman movies..she is too important a character. He married her BK - she's not going anywhere.

You may not like Dunst (I personally thought she did a pretty good job) - but you can't make a Spiderman movie the character.

And as far as Gwen goes, it would be pretty hard to go backwards in the storyline....Gwen came before MJ, and we're pretty much past that point.
