What's the crown jewel of your comics collection?

for me it's the mint copy of the first comic i ever bought, i still have the original, missing it's cover so i bought a new onw at a show. it's not worth all that much but it's my first comic.

otherwise it'd be a bunch of batman's i have where it's the first appearence of major villians, Ras al ghul, Talia, Twoface, manbat, poison ivy, i have a complete run of Batman and Detecive from 1974 to now.

My Copy of Love and Rockets number one by The Hernandez Brothers. probably why I love comics so much. It was the first comic that didn't have superheros that I totally loved. I collected the entire original run and every thing they basically put out.

My copies of Batman--"Crime Stops at Midnight" and Marvel Two-in-One somewhere in the middle of the Wraith storyline (featuring Spidey and Iron Man).

The first comics I ever got and my favorites even today.

This tabloid-sized issue is my personal favorite. It's not the most valuable but it has my two favorite superheroes of all time and probably my favorite villain in at least a minor role. It's pretty much a typical 70's "let's fight then team up" story, but it ruled my world as a nine year old originally and still captivates me as an adult.

That book is worth more than my car. I'm guessing you don't exactly have that in your bathroom reading rack, huh?

Here's a question, though. With a book worth that much money, have you actually opened it and flipped through the pages just to experience the feel and smell of legend or is it hermetically sealed?

Oh I read it, and smelt it, and touched it quite a bit before I sent it away to be graded.

Vintage comics like this almost have to be graded in order to maintain their integrity and value...what with so many undisclosed restoration jobs being done on older comics these days.
