Assignment: Earth - The Comic Book

Has anyone been reading this? John Byrne has been doing single issue stories. Many loose ends, historical references to the 60's and 70's and he gets the resemblances reasonably well to the actors. In one recent issue he revealed what happened to the 2 missing agents he replaced. Miss Lincoln tries to figure out who ISIS the cat is and there was even a flash forward to the present where ISIS does not hide her identity any more. I think Byrne may have some big things in store for Mr. Seven and Miss Lincoln. I think it would be better if he had munti-issue stories but so far it has been pretty good.

I missed the first two issues but I've been enjoying what I've read since then. Either it's a quick seller or they don't order that many at my LCS....haven't figured out which.

A great series indeed. Makes me wish the powers that be had picked up the series ...or would even consider doing one now.
Byrnes Romulans/Hollow Crown book is looking pretty good too.

And for those that missed issues of A.E., I believe IDW is planning on releasing a collected version next spring.

How come all of Byrne's hands look like old store mannequins?

Y'know, someone once told me Byrne doesn't draw new poses in new comics but he has a stock set of pre-drawn poseshe keeps using. Maybe he has a set of hand poses he just re-uses every time.

Aussie, tho they would have to re-cast the roles, I think Assignment Earth would be a great spin-off show. I don't see why Rodenberry's widow doesn't push to have it made. They could leave the old episode alone in the ST DVD collections and use a re-booted version, digitally add in new actors for Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln, ( and ISIS the cat), to to kick off a new series.

I've only read a few issues of this, but it was enough to let me know that I'll definitely be getting the trade paperback when it comes out. The stories are clever, the art is some of the best Byrne's done in years, and it's as much fun as a Star Trek comic book should be!

                    >How come all of Byrne's hands look like old store mannequins?

It was the 60's. Everybody looked like that.

                    >someone once told me Byrne doesn't draw new poses in new comics but he has a stock set of pre-drawn poseshe keeps using.

Most cartoonists work like that. It's a way to cope with insane deadlines. To be fair, Byrne ISN'T using his standard character design for this one, and it looks pretty good.
