Part 5 of this junk is finally out, more od the same junk. story lines that go no where and make no real sense. nightwing is about to get some type of lobotomy, (which, we know does not happen, since the current story line in his own comic takes place after r.i.p. commisioner Gordon is in wayne manor, thing are about to go boom there, when he gets help from taila and Batman's son. (I guess he knows bats is bruce) joker shows up, seems to have gone mad, he is ****ed that batman shot him, ( the fake batman) blames batman for it, tells him, and tells him that what has happened to bats is all bats own fault for trying to understand joker, and conducting expiriments on himself with isolation rooms and drugs to try and find out how it was to be the joker. joker kills some of the blk gloves minons.
We also find out that the joker seems to be working with the thomas wayne guy (???? Even this is muddy) jezzable is brought out she is in a trap, calls out for bruces help, he replies thers is no bruce only Azaroooo Batman, she cries out for help, bats takes mask off in front of everyone , takes jokers knieve cuts the class to her trap, guess what, she is working with the blk glove( what a surprise, wow, we all really did not even think this possible, yea right) bruce fals to the ground, thay tell him, do you get it do you get it? next up the final . I hope we can all let this ******** story line R.I.P. After wards...... what does everyone her think about the story as well as this part ? let me know.

The Batman Strikes

Other than a trade I picked up collecting Paul Dini's Detective Comics, I haven't read a regular Batman title since before Bane broke Bruce's back. I switched over after BTAS came on. Never looked back. I've been reading the animated books since. Done-in-one. The final issue of The Batman Strikes came out yesterday with The Demon. I haven't read it yet, but I'm heading up to the State Fairgrounds on Saturday to get a few issues of The Batman Strikes autographed by Christopher Jones and Terry Beatty. 20th Anniversary of the MNCBA.

Still don't get why you keep buying the book even tho it, according to you, sucks so bad. With the price of the monthlies getting to be 3 to 4 bucks a pop, its a bit steep to buy something just so you can go around and cry about how bad it is.

Amen. Take it from me. Quit cold turkey. I bought the Batman books for at least 25 years before giving up on them shortly after HUSH. Bob Schreck's editorial reign left me cold. I came back with "One Year Later" and it's promise of a saner, more 70s-esque Batman. The Paul Dini Tec stuff was great. Never warmed up to Morrison's run beyond the great Club of Heroes arc. I saw this RIP storyline coming, and took that opportunity along with my growing dislike of most of my other former favorite books to just stop buying them...period. I thought for a long time that I just HAVE TO keep buying them. Simple fact of the matter is, you don't. And if we all speak with our lack of dollar input, maybe DC will wise up and give us some material that is more in tune with what folks want to see.

'Course you run the risk that they ARE, and YOU'RE the one out of the loop. I'm kinda looking at it more practically: why beat your head against the wall every month? If you don't like a book any more, just stop reading it. There's all sorts of reasons you might no longer enjoy it: bad writing, you're no longer the target audience, you've outgrown the character.... bottom line is, it's not fun any more. Move on.

It's not a matter of out growing the character, or it out growing me ( the reader) case in point, the animated adventures comic version, is so much more interesting and better constructed, than the regular bat book (r.i.p) tThis book is aimed at a much younger buyer, and detective, that book, is also way more interesting than the r.i.p story line. even the cross over story is better. I believe, the fault lays in Mr. Morrison as well as them wanting us to believe the current story. I have been a Batman fan my entire life, as well as a comic fan. I will not drop the bat books. I am hoping, the next writer or editor will have a better grasp of the character.
There are also other ways, to show Dc we the fans are not happy with the current state, without having to drop books.( Some cases books that are droped by reader, end up cancelled, and who really loses? the company? not really, they will just find a new book to put out.and the fans are the ones who lose their fav hero.
P.s. If no one is looking at the Superman titles I.E. Action Comics and Superman, take a look at them, they have super improved in art, story and content. Just about a yr ago they were dropping in quality, now, they might be the best DC books being put out.

I'm buying the Stotyline as well...and like a "Car Wreck", I can't seem to look away. I plan on cancelling all the Bat Books when it ends...but for some reason feel complelled to see it through to it's horrible conclusion.

^ I agree with Dane on his "car wreck" assesment...consider me one of the "ambulance chasers" as well. I'll continue picking this up with the hopes that Morrison will turn it around with something cool at the end but I've had my doubts since the get-go...with his slow melodramatic build-up it didn't seem like he'd have time to pull this off in any coherent, sensible way. It just reads like a cluster of ideas thrown at the wall. I figured I'd rather pick-up the monthly and despise it in the end rather than pluck down dough for a TPB later one to see what the fuss was all about and be disappointed. At least with the monthly issues I'm adding to my run....sigh...I'm such a freakin' competist sometimes.

Well.... I guess; but that kinda sounds like cognitive dissonance to me. "Maybe the NEXT guy will be good, and what if it ties in with THIS one, and I quit and miss it.... or maybe this one will end good and I don't want to miss it, and I DO have a complete collection of all the books from the last ten years.... I don't want to break my set, do I?" I saw this sort of thing a lot back in the 90's, and it seems to have gotten worst the last few years; what with the constant revamps, restarts, reimaginings and non-events. The fans WANT to keep reading their books, but the companies are trying so many things it's tough to keep up.

....and I do believe that a certain amount of the problem is that the older fans have actually outgrown their old faves but don't realize it. Like I said before; there are only SO MANY Batman stories you can do, and if you've been reading for the last 15 years the odds are pretty good you've seen them all.

ESSENTIALLY true; but if they're putting out a book you don't like, haven't you ALREADY lost your favourite hero?

Quite possible; but you can just not buy any books he does. Tying into the last point; I don't think DC is gonna do away with Batman any time soon, no matter how much sales lag. But they will keep trying revamps, until something hits. Then they'll stick with it.
