    New Bats cartoon controversy

I had heard Kevin Conroy was signed up to voice Bats for the new toon...which is great, as far as I'm concerned this guy IS the voice of Batman (with apologies to Adam West).

I just spoke with some friends of mine who do some of the marketing for Warners, and they said Conroy was out, and Deidrich Bader was now doing the voice! In case you dont know who this guy is, he played Lewis on drew Carey, and Jethro in the Beverly Hillbillies film from the 90's!!!

    AAARGH!

Why, oh why was Conroy was replaced?

Does anybody else think this is a big mistake?

Diedrich Bader has been the voice of Bats from day one of the current cartoon. Conroy was never in in the first place. No controversy.

Bader has a decent voice, but Conroy really did define the voice for me. I think he really captures both Bats ans Bruce.

Really?...From the start?...My bad then, I was sure I had read Conroy was doing Batman. ...Also explains why the WB folks worded their comment like they did....they were being polite, instead of calling me a moron.

        Still, Jethro doing Batman.....?

Nope...some other guy did. I never did like that show....although that probably had more to do with the way the "re-imagined" some of the characters (like the Joker).

Conroy did the better Bats toons of the 90's and early 2000's...including JL. I think he did the Dark Knight tie in DVD cartoons too?

Bader should work good considering the tone of the new cartoon. Very lighthearted.

Konroy's not doing the voice because its a different Batman.

The Bruce Timm animated series Batman, Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond was the same timeline/universe/continuity.

"The Batman" and "The Brave and the Bold" are two different versions with two different Batmans.

Just like Superman in JLA Unlimited and Superman in DOOMSDAY...2 different Supermans.

What Art said. Although Timm and Co. did want to have Tim Daly reprise his Superman role (from STAS) for Justice League. At the time he was working on the short-lived Fugitive tv series revival, and was unavailable, so they cast George Newburn. STAS is in the same continuity as BTAS/TNBA/BB/JL/JLU (and Zeta Project and Static Shock too, and maybe even Teen Titans, kinda sorta!).

I think they got Conroy to voice the Batman in that Anime stype batfilm that Timm or Dini did this past summer. It may be avail on video.

Yep. Batman: Gotham Knight. It's out now. Dini wasn't involved, but Timm is Executive Producer of all the direct-to-video DC movies.

As I recall Bale was supposed to do that Anime thing and at the last minute bailed so they got Conroy. I LOVE Conroy but I wasn't impressed with that one.

I'm personally excited about Bader, the series is lighthearted and fun and he's got the chops to pull that off. Bader was great on the Batman Beyond spinoff "The Zeta Project".

John Di Maggio (Bender) is the voice of Aquaman and Tom (Spongebob) Kinney is doing Plastic Man again. I'm more excited than my kid.

I sooo hope they do a toyline for this....I was disappointed when they cancelled "The Legion of Super-Heroes" before we got to see toys of them.
