Agreed!Only thing I really liked about the episode was Lois in that maid's outfit.
I didn't catch that, but it may be. Smallville has always had a bad habit of rushing the wrap-up on things, to move on to the music montage and longing looks at episodes end. It's one of the few "hangers on" from the original "Dawson Creek Meets Superman" direction.I believe that Miss TessMacher (Mercer, whatever) said something to the effect that they have been reassimilated, which seems like they may have been brainwashed and potentially used to her advantage in the future. I imagine this would mean Black Canary and Aquaman at a minimum, and potentially even Chloe and Green Arrow as well.

I actually kind of agree. I enjoy watching the show for what it is, but it's in strange territory now. They should have kept Ma and Pa in the show, and had Clark go to college and stay on the farm. That way there'd be a legit reason why he wasn't SuperMAN yet, he was still a student. As it stands he looks bad because guys like GA and Aqua-Bro are out saving the world and his pining over his puppy love interest. At least this season seems to be making him more proactive, but we've heard that before. We shall wait and see...You must be psychic.
Seriously, it is time for the costume.
8 seasons? Christ.
I don't even think pre crisis before Superboy stuff last more then three panels.
God.

I DVR'd Smallville. I'll watch it tonight after NCIS' season premiere.
Next to Smallville, I think The Incredible Hulk is the longest running super-hero television series. I stick to belief - a super-hero TV show or movie is going to be different from the comic book. I liked the Hulk TV show. Smallville's been pretty good. I agree they jumped the shark. Clark should be in college - even community college, fer cryin out loud! Right now he is pretty much directionless. I have a hard time seeing Clark Kent as being unfocused. Clark Kent as a small town slacker? I know working a farm can be hard, but come on - outside of the adventure of the week - he doesn't have a purpose. He doesn't even seem to be trying to find himself. He's just content to stay in Smallville on the farm?
Of course, the minute he moves in any direction to becoming Clark Kent/Superman - the show is over. Maybe that's why the writers keep backing away from that. A well-thought out plan.
Seriously.Shameless self-promotion -

Good points. Even if they wanted to, WB's movie division wouldn't let them put Clark in the suit and call him Superman. That't the movie franchise's territory. So they are stuck with a show that gets decent ratings, but can only go so far with Clark's journey. As long as the show has decent ratings, and pull in advertisers, they'll keep it going as is (with some tweaks here and there, hopefully), and the die-hard fanboys will just have to deal with all of the inconsistencies.I DVR'd Smallville. I'll watch it tonight after NCIS' season premiere.

Okay, so last night's episode was okay. Liked some of the "Super-Clark" scenes really well. The idea of a "group" being formed by Mercer is interesting. Belle Reeve, Plastique...Task Force X, anyone?
One thing bothered me. Was it just me, or did they act like the Talon was now in Metropolis? The central hangout of the characters for the first 5 seasons or so seems to have been mysteriously relocated to a big city that is supposed to be a 3 hour drive away (by some accounts, anyway). Bette says she's "leaving Metropolis" but yet she's standing in a building in Smalliville! Either they've decided the Talon is in Metropolis, or Smalliville is now just a suburb of the big city. That is just stupid.

I was thinking maybe Mercer was forming the Injustice League. Did you catch Lois' comment when talking about Bette to Clark that she wasn't a "live wire"? I actually smiled at that one.
I agree about the Talon. I was wondering the same thing.
Next week is the origin of Ollie becoming the Green Arrow. And I'm guessing we'll see what's up with Davis as Doomsday. Should be interesting.Last edited by ScottA; Sep 26, '08, 1:49 PM.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment
