    DCU Elementary

In the vein of the AWESOME Tiny Titans (Aw Yeah, Titans)...Coming Soon:

    DCU Elementary!

I'm excited about this but also a little sad that this is like the closest thing to the REAL DCU that's appeared from DC Comics in quite some time. Everything's gotten sooo dark and discouraging it's nice to see a little lighthearted approach...even if it is in a "children's" book.

Very neat. I only wish they'd tone down most of their DCU books so a kid could actually read them without needing therapy later.

The majority of young kids these days could care less about comic books

(unless they got weird parents like me who turned them on to them)

Most kids are stuck nose first in a video or game or Internet. Reading a comic book? Too much effort. It is really sad.

I think the books these days are aimed at post teen adults to middle aged people because they are the ones that grew up with the generation of "reading" before there was no serious Internet connections.

I saw an actual program aimed at this. How video games and the Internet have made the children of this generation really lazy and it has taken more effort when it comes to schools to help them to read then ever before. Really sad.

True enough, but it doesn't have to be that way. The Harry Potter books are a great example. Children (and adults) actually READ these. If the comic companies made their main titles more accessible, and more all-ages appropriate, and got them in outlets where people, oh I don't know, ACTUALLY SHOP, then comics may get some new blood, and they wouldn't have to worry about when we all grow so old or indifferent that we stop finally buying them all together.

Supposedly this project won't see the light of day. Its been done for over a year, and DC has yet to schedule it.

That's a shame. My guys would love it and I would have no problem shelling out the cash on a toyline.

Guessing its because there is already a cutesy toddler toyline and tie in comic with Superfriends.

                        OBOY! L'il Lobo!

*Blark!* It truly IS the 80's again. "No; just slap 'babies' at the end, and we have a new concept! Woooo! Time to get drunk!"

                        *sigh*

You're right, but it's got nothing to do with the internet. Since the late 80's the big two (and a half, eventually) have aimed their books increasingly towards the "comic fan" instead of a more general audience. If anything it's the fault of comic book specialty shops. Helped 'em isolate their audience.
