    My first Batman custom...

as an adult. I did countless custom Batman figures as a youngster but as I got older, I got much more picky when it came to Batman and I'd start one and never finish it. To solve this, I thought I'd modify a Mego Batman.

I painted some black on his mask. More often than not, this is how he is shown in the comics and on Superfriends. I personally like it when his mask is a solid color like the Megos.

I made his gloves. I was originally just going to make them the same as Mego's but I never liked the way they did the "fringes" so at the last second, I cut them with 3 fringes but as you can see, they are a bit high on the glove. This is because I had already cut the size/placement to match Mego's.

I like Mego's belt so I made a mold and poured a latex belt.

Cape mine and is cut at the length it should be, It folds up around his shouldrs but I didn't get a good shot of it draped over him. Not unlike if you unfold a Super Powers Batman cape.

Bodysuit is Mego as are the boots. I plan on replacing the boots with some repro darker ones, maybe repro Klingon boots from CTVT or somewhere.

Emblem was a gift from C.Flatt.

I made this about 10 years ago now. I like him. I hope you do.

Looks pretty good. I have one question. Where did you purchase the latex to make the belt? I was getting ready to search for a source soon that dealt with a pliable plastic so that I can custom make my own belts and some accessories etc. in the future. Can you help me with a supplier or vendor name?

      Thanks.
Oh boy. That was a long time ago. I might have a bottle here in the basement. I can tell you I bought it at a hobby shop. The same place I found Super Sculpey. If you have a hobby shop near you, ask around. I'm in Canada so telling you where I bought it isn't going to help much. In fact, the name escapes me right now. lol

Super clean custom. I like that quite a bit. Everything is vivid and brings to life the Batman of the Super Friends. Terrific work on that.

Good point. I do appreciate your response none the less. Thanks! I do have a Michael's fairly close although I do not remember seeing anything like that there. I will check out their on line store to see if maybe I might of missed it in another aisle somewhere along the line. In addition I will start a new thread here at The Museum to see if anyone has had any recent experiences with such a product or an equivelant. If all else fails I will do a Google search until I find something that looks appealing.

Very nice, the belt looks better than a Mego one too imo.

                      I love it!
Doesn't the latex belt become sticky with time? (i'm very interested in finding a flexible material)
