    Mystique

Well, very few know the embarrasing story why this figure was delayed and I think I want to keep it that way.

This has been my hardest female to make!

The odds were against me! I had a bunch of CTVT's female bodies that were literally given to me because they were all dis-portioned and busted to ****. I really can't tell you how nice it will to have Dr. Mego finally reveal his new female body in late September.

I had to design these boots for Mystique to correct the busted and snapped joints in her feet. The boots are hand scupted by me. There was nothing I could do about that! These hand sculpted boots literally fixed the foot problem and gave her balance!
So after I fixed the body I painted it blue and sealed it with the classic PLAID clear acyrlic sealer to keep her from chipping.

Then, I stripped the paint off a Famous Cover's Jean Grey head, revealing the nice blue base underneath to build a new face over it, creating the Mystique head.

I designed the white dress out of white spandex like material giving it a gloss finish with fabric paint. Of course, that skull belt added the final dimension courtesy of my pal and mego museum member, Spiderrogue.

I wanted to make this character look right. I felt the movie made her look like a giant blue fish with blue scales. It ruined the character and I wanted to show people how she should have looked.

This is what I got done so far.

^^^ Sure it was unnecesary, but you won't hear me complain. Nice work, Cat.

            Mystique

            Well, it's okay, I guess.

I have never liked the Famous Covers figures, especially the female ones, because the all appeared to be either snarling or sneering; their faces fixed in these horrid looking grimaces.

Can't stand CTVT bodies because they're crap.

Once the new bodies come out, would it be possible to dye them instead of painting? That way, you wouldn't have to worry about chipping.

Too bad the only boots available are the hard plastic ones from CTVT.

She'd look really great with a pair of killer stiletto boots in white kid leather.

How'd you make that little belt she's wearing. From what I remember of her early days, Mystique's belt looked like it was made up of skulls.

You don't have to be nice. What you really want to say is, "Gee Cat. That really looks like crap." It is ok

I basically take supplies like broken CTVTs bodies, material, paints leftover heads and try and build something halfway decent out of it. I don't have money falling out of my butt and I make way with what I got.
I usually make the customs for my daughter. So most of them are kid friendly.

It was a nightmare trying to fix that broken CTVTs body. I had to work a lot of magic to get that doll's legs to stand even after I glued the cracked pieces together. There isn't a lot of mego female bodies floating around and I am sick of losing eBay battles for an original body.
I could use a Breyer girl from Dr. Mego and solve the problem but of course we all have had this discussion about Breyer girls and I won't go there.

I have several busted bodies that some guy who works at CTVTs literally put them in a bag and sent them to my house. He had to have seen they were busted, and that tells me about the quality of their quality control people. I sent good hard earned money to them and they sent me a bag of busted dolls.

So I decided to fix and repair this body. The feet and ankles were busted so bad that there was no way I could make her stand normal. I had to design boots out of sculptey that would pacify the odd shape and the off balance due the busted legs and feet. It was a trick and I did it.

Why am I posting crap some of you ask? I don't know. I think sometimes I feel proud of myself when I can take crap and busted bodies and fix them up into a kid friendly doll for my daughter to play with. I am not posting these things looking for praises or making them look like they jumped out of a comic book and onto your desk. It is just something I do for fun and to make my daughter happy.

I think I have developed a skill repairing crap female bodies from CTVTs. I even discussed with someone who works there that I would be happy to take their busted crap off their hands for fun. I don't think the person I was talking to thought it was too funny.

So there you have it. I am glad you looked at my crap and hopefully found a sense of understanding why I post these things in here. I hope you don't take this as being rude, I am actually in a humorous mood at the moment and your post made me smile. I know what you wanted to say and you were being nice and I thank you for that. Maybe if more people were like you I would post more crap for people to laugh at.

                Mystique

I never meant to imply that it was crap.

I honestly believe that you did a good job with the materials you had on hand; it's not your fault they were crap to begin with.

It was a first attempt, right?

Since when does ANYONE get anything gorgeous on the first attempt?

When I was learning how to crochet, everything came out lumpy, uneven, too tight, too loose, too many stitches, not enough stitches, wrong sized hook, didn't read the instructions right, you name it.

I am fairly decent at it now, but I am still only what you would call intermediate at it.

The other customs were great, I thought. I especially liked the suit for Storm, and the Magneto custome is great.

Uh, did you do Professor X, or did I just not look closely enough?
