Holy celebrations, Batman!!
What a weekend it was!!

Saturday, June 10th, and Sunday June 11th,
marked the occasion of THOUSANDS of comic book, collectible, and cosplay fans descending upon Brooklyn, New York’s “The Breeze” arts and innovation center to enjoy a weekend of fun, color, and excitement at BROOKLYN COMIC CON 2023!!

Among the hundreds of vendors, artists, cosplayers and creatives on hand for the event, I was very proud to be in attendance as an exhibitor featured attraction representing 9Art Custom Collectibles and my ever-expanding LEGENDS OF GOTHAM CITY Exhibit Display of custom 1:9 scale action figures and sprawling diorama environments!!

The reactions to my work were flattering and truly humbling for me… to say the least. HUNDREDS of convention guests stopped through my 3-booth, 30-foot wide display space during the entire weekend. The smiles, laughter, astonishment, wonder, and admiration expressed to me for the 1:9 scale world of Gotham City made the months and years of painstaking work so very, very worth it.

I have definitely made some fabulous new friends… many, I am sure, to be destined for life!

Originally the smallest diorama of the series (pitting FIVE custom villain action figures crowded together into one single tight space), the ARKHAM ASYLUM SHOCK THERAPY CHAMBER now has received a grand update for 2023! The previous simple central main entry section has now been expanded on either side with full dilapidated DORMITORY WARDS that are detailed with four, large, multi-paneled arched windows, two bed gurneys, four old cast-iron heat radiators units, flashing Emergency Alert lights, and assorted lab / shock therapy equipment scattered throughout. Additionally, the central chamber entry section has been updated with an entire entry foyer / elevator bank area (behind the armored door). This area also features a red flashing “Emergency Alert Lockdown” beacon light.

Custom villains TWO-FACE, HARLEY QUINN, THE RIDDLER, THE PENGUIN, and their twisted ringmaster THE JOKER now all have much more space to affect their daring prison breaks!!

In 2019, the GOTHAM CITY POLICE HEADQUARTERS diorama had been greatly expanded from its original smaller configuration (last seen at MEGO MEET 2018). Now featuring the top two floors of the majestic municipal building, this diorama, (along with custom POLICE COMMISSIONER JAMES GORDON), makes its triumphant return appearance at Brooklyn Comic Con 2023 with some added rooftop details and all-new smoke stack effects...

Custom Librarian BARBARA GORDON spots the sweeping BATSIGNAL beacon in the night sky from the quiet confines of the GOTHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY.




I wish I could say it was fun gluing all those individual little books into those shelves for three days. The truth is, it was not! LOL!

With my recent completion of custom BATGIRL several months back, I was very anxious to dive into this next diorama for her dramatic face-off against the notorious custom CATWOMAN: Representing 3-stories of a most gritty location, the updated GOTHAM BACK ALLEY Diorama now stands a towering nearly 4 feet in height (!) and it is loaded with authentic details and weathering for fans to enjoy!






The heavily researched, rendered, and constructed FIRE ESCAPE (by itself) was an ambitious project that ran more than two months from start to finish.












All-new rooftop cornice, skylight, electronic vent fan, and working smoke stack details were added for 2023.



And as an inside joke to amuse myself, this cat vs bat scene now features an authentically-detailed water hydrant fire plug… without a doggie in sight to relieve itself! LOL!

Brooklyn Comic Con 2023, saw the public debut of the newly expanded WAYNE MANOR STUDY diorama, now with fully-detailed exterior walls and a fully surrounding balcony space and railing, comprised of 72 balusters individually spun on a lathe. From here, Brooklyn Comic Con friends watched as custom ALFRED PENNYWORTH alerted custom Billionaire BRUCE WAYNE and custom DICK GRAYSON to the emergency BATSIGNAL beacon summoning them to action!

And of course, the caped crusaders of Gotham City themselves… THE BATMAN and ROBIN the Boy Wonder… were on-hand to enjoy being seen by all visitors of Brooklyn Comic Con 2023… while standing triumphantly atop the GOTHAM WAREHOUSE & STORAGE BUILDING Diorama!
