"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Hey everyone! There's a new custom LOTR figure out today!
This time, we're tackling Gandalf the Grey!

Like our other figures, he features a handsewn costume, a 3D-printed head with a yarn doll wig and beard
(sculpted in the likeness of my friend Jacob, who I felt made a perfect Gandalf) and sword (Glamdring), and a carved wooden staff!

In terms of design, we went for more of a pre-Jackson interpretation--focusing more on Gandalf's written description in the books.
Of course, some written details (such as the eyebrows that stuck out past his hat) had to be left out and simplified for logistical reasons.
We also drew a lot of inspiration for Gandalf (as well as the other figures in our on-going LOTR series) from his appearances in the calendar art of the Brother's Hildebrandt,
the 1978 animated adaptation by Ralph Bakshi, and even the animated specials of The Hobbit and The Return of the King by Rankin/Bass.

We're incredibly happy with how Gandalf has turned out, and we're very much looking forward to future figures--as well as completing the Fellowship!
As always, feedback is always encouraged and desired!
Thanks for checking out Gandalf!
