"I am Groot."

My first custom figure for 2017 is the first of two figures an old colleague of mine commissioned me to make as Valentine's Day gifts for his daughters.

Of the two he requested I tackled the one I found the most challenging first, Groot. I knew there would be A LOT of sculpting involved but, I wasn't sure how to begin, then I remembered Legend of Link had made a Groot within the last few years and found his post...which proved VERY helpful.

My thanks to Legend of Link for pioneering the method for bringing this character to the Megoverse!

GROOT

HEAD - Base is my resin cast of CTVT's Gold Bald Man sculpted over with Milliput and finished with my paints.
BODY - Base is a BBP Lost Miles Straume sculpted over with Milliput and finished with my paints.

Super nice job, John! But I have a feeling you've done something MEGO likely wouldn't have done and that's give his a textured body. I imagine a MEGO Groot would likely have had a wood-grained suit much like The Thing's "rock textured" suit.
