Wow - did you wash/straighten the hair or any other prep? They look fantastic. Does the "ink" fully dry once you give it enough time?

You used the Sharpies on the hair? I didn't know that could be done! Now I have ideas as to what to do with the extra Dinah heads I have! Instead of rerooting, I'll just give her a color job!

I have had some of them for a while, in storage (on a chopstick with a rubber band around the end to keep it straight, but I typically wash them as soon as I get them so at some point, they were washed but that was the only prep. The ink on the hair is FULLY dry ( I leave it overnight and then comb it out) and is permanent. After it dried, none has rubbed off on my fingers with all the handling of the hair. There is no tackiness or stickiness to it at all. In fact, it seems softer and smoother if anything.

I'll do another one and post pics from how I store them to keep the hair straight to the finished product.

Very cool! I've used Sharpie myself but had bleed into head so I'm very impressed that you can do them so clean.

I think the trick is to not let any of it touch the material of the scalp.

Exactly. That's why I like the "brush" tip Sharpies. You can go right up to the hair line. Nail polish remover takes any off that may get on the scalp IF you remove it immediately.

Here's the process broken down pretty basic. I just did this one as an example in about 10 minutes and it is already dry. I basically just "comb" through the hair with the tip and then use the side of the marker tip to cover more area away from the scalp. Be very careful along the hairline as it can bleed into the scalp. Again, if I happen to get any on the scalp, a quick wipe with nail polish remover works great.

                        That is "truly outrageous"!

Very cool trick. The ladies all look great.

Great dye-jobs! Newer Sharpie products are just excellent (the Industrial line rocks!), but I'm kinda amazed the pigment isn't leeching into the vinyl. You ever try this with the metallics?
