I really like that. If you're not happy with it then make some alterations. We learn far more from our mistakes than from our successes. I consider this figure a success, though. Even if it isn't an exact likeness it has a charm to it that makes it special. I certainly have never seen an Apollo done before, so hell yeah for originality.Leave a comment:

Maybe I am not a good one to judge as he looks pretty cool. Yeah, the hat looks big and skin tone is different between the body and head. BUT, he still looks cool. Heck man, it is Apollo Creed, baby. "Livin In America"

The Master of Disaster...The King of Sting....
Not sure if any of you have ever found yourself in this situation but thought you may enjoy at my expense.
My plan to make a custom Apollo Creed was….in my mind…brilliant. The Rookie’s Terry head was deemed a suitable Carl Weathers likeness. The clothes were a sure-fire home-run and a Zica body served as the perfect body type for the character.
As the project came together, a few things fell apart. Actually not much didn’t fall apart.
- The Zica body didn’t take the paint very well or at least the paint I was using. Any bend of a limb made Apollo look like he suffered from Vitiligo.
- The paint dried much darker than the skin tone of the head.
- The mustache being added instantly made Terry look like an adult film star rather than a Boxer.
- The shorts were a tad short in the leg creating sort of a Daisy Duke vibe, only adding to the mustache comment above.
- The top hat was the final straw. Not only was it too small to fit his head but was more of a rounded cloth effect than a top hat.
Once the custom was completed a could not stop laughing at him. I’ve put him away a few times now and every time I pick him up I laugh out loud. Not a chuckle, but an honest to goodness real laugh.
This custom was such a disaster and looks so hilarious I thought I’d post for your enjoyment.
As a favor to me, I ask that those members who frequently highlight what’s “wrong” with FTC’s weekly announcement take a crack at Apollo Creed. Tear him apart. It will be fun.
