Another member here asked me if i would be interested in doing a head-sculpt of Lt.M'Ress from Star Trek: The Animated Series.
I liked the character, used to watch the show back in the day and thought it would be a fun character to do so i decided to give it a try.
He had the idea to do a re-sculpt of a Cornelius head which looking back now would have been a much better choice than what i went with.
I decided that an FTC Elvira head was the best choice. It wasn't and i got off to a very rough start trying to
"re-sculpt" that head and make it into M'Ress.
Right away all the good points i thought would help all ended up having to be changed. The hair was completely wrong, it had to be removed and redone, the eyes and facial shape was all wrong and had to be changed. It ended up being alot more than just a "simple" re-sculpt.
I just finished her up tonight.I like it, not sure about him as he hasn't seen it yet.
Once i got the head to a point i liked, i was hooked and had to do a complete custom figure.
I went with his idea of using a Zira body,(pre-made furry hands are Awesome).
I wasn't sure about the cats paw feet. I really didn't think i would be able to make these work but i decided to give it a try and surprisingly she can stand with her new feet and i am happy with the look of them.
The tail was easy enough, just heated a piece of plastic rod and sculpted the end on it and drilled a hole in back for it to go in.
I painted the arms, hands, legs, feet and tail the same color as the face.
The uniform was the easiest part. Thanks Lt.Uhura.
