The Name Game -- Captain Marvel aka Photon aka Pulsar aka Spectrum

I guess its a woman's right to change her mind, eh?

Monica Rambeau initially known as Captain Marvel, became a leader of the Avengers. She later used the codenames Photon and Pulsar and is now known as Spectrum.

The character was created by writer Roger Stern and artist John Romita, Jr.. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 (1982).

Talking about the visual features of the character, Romita noted that originally the character was intended to look like Pam Grier but

"...I just took some reference on Pam Grier, because I always loved her, and at the last moment somebody said that, "Well, we need to use this woman, here," because they thought maybe Pam Grier wasn't as good-looking as the model they found. It was fine, because by the time she got done by other artists, it ended up looking like the generic black character, anyway"

Captain Marvel (as which she will always be referred to by me) is built on an original Mego Star Trek Uhura body and head; mask and suit by yours truly; boots from CTVT.

    1st appearance in the Avengers...

with some of her Avenger pals...

Issue where she is elected Chairman of the Avengers...

I hope you enjoy my customs as much as I do, and, as always, thanks for looking!

    Peace, Love, and Megos!

She's sharp--I recall her introduction. Great use of Uhura, too.

Did you have trouble with the boots? Are they CTVT?---they always split for me.

FTC needs to do some generic female heads with this bubble-cut IMO. You know you can use several colors of it for characters.

Awesome job! One of my favorite characters as a kid (for some reason).

^That's a shame. If you can nab a Dr. Girlfriend, she has white DM boots.

Awesome! And great head choice... she looks just like Captain Marvel, way more than she does Uhura.

I think Nichelle Nichols would be proud to be portrayed as a beautiful black superhero for Black History Month! Nice work, Austin!

Too bad about the white boots. That's why I never buy the Space:1999 boots from FTC. The derned things always split, shatter and chip with the least pressure!

Really nice. Looks just like the character and very much like what I imagine Mego would have done.
