My custom General Lee car for the 8" Mego Dukes figures!!!

Still wondering why Mego never made a car for their successful line of Dukes of Hazzard 8" Mego figures!...So I finally decided to make my own using popular toy cars sold in the early 80's for 8" figures by Gay toys,....yes,...Gay Toys!

...Still need to Chrome paint the front and rear bumpers, add a gas tank cover and chrome door handles for the finishing touches....What do you guys think??? I know it might not be a Dodge,..but it was the closest in color and body scheme,...besides,...how would Mego would have done theirs, right???

I think it's great. It would pass for a Dodge Monaco, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch.

That waxy plastic can be a bear to paint, I hope it doesn't give you hassles when you do the bumpers.

Thats really cool but the car guy in me just says. NO.
A few years ago they made a radio control car for the new movie. It is about the right scale. I bought one at a flea market, but before I could leave a guy offered me like 75 bucks for it. I paid 25. So..I made a fast 50 and kept on shopping. You really did a great job but you can find a charger if you look.
Maybe one of the Dukes redneck younger cousins can drive yours. I have seen this kind of thing on the road here in NC.

I totally get where you're coming from. I know the RC one you're talking about; it's on my shelf in my "Dukes section" with my Megos and FTC Roscoe. It's more wrong IMO. It sits too low, is too detailed, and I can't do anything with it without serious mods. My sense of Megoness can overcome my car guy instincts I guess. Now if he had put a 350 in a Dart and bolted in a 9", I'd cringe a little.

I always thought the smaller Mego version looked like a Torino......part of the charm for me.

I understand you completely my friend and thanks so much for the advice! ...its just that I wanted to follow the simple ways of how Mego would have done it,..if they ever did,..like their Batmobile, Batcopter, and their other line of cars,..simple, kid friendly and playable. BTW,..never new they made a RC Dukes car that big,..any pics??? Would LOVE to see!!!!!

I like it as is, it has the Mego charm, like you mentioned with the Batmobile and others where sometimes it seemed Mego said "that's close enough, its a kids toy"

Fun custom and has that odd 70s vibe.
