The Ultimate Warrior!!
So growing up in the 70's & 80's I Had a few Heroes.
Some Marvel - Some DC
But I also had a few real life Sports Heroes
Lawrence Taylor, Mark Bavaro, Daryl Strawberry and many more
But my all time favorite sports person by far was The Ultimate Warrior! (I'm sure he was a favorite of a lot of you guys/girls as well)
This figure has been a labor of love - I really wanted to do him justice and I really wanted to get it right.
I want to Thank Amy for re-rooting the head for me - which I feel really makes this custom different than your average custom. Now keep in mind this is not real hair so its real hard to cut and comb - I think she did a Fantastic & Amazing job on this head. (She also made a 2nd one for me which is Thor head which will have a face paint and costume variation - stay tuned for that one) So Thank you Amy for bringing my vision to life
As for the rest of the Warrior - I'm very proud to say I did everything else myself!
Yes I even painted the face mask - and well know how much Vinny hates to paint lol! (truth be told - I used a practice head before doing it on Amy's Head. I would fully paint it, than wash it clean. I did this about 4 times. On the real head I did the same - finally on the 4th try I was happy with the outcome. My wife thought I was crazy - but I wanted to get it as perfect as I could to do the Warrior full justice.
Paint is better than it looks in the pictures - it is hard to get the true colors from the camera as the flash kinds washes them out. I'm going to borrow the inlaws camera this week - I'll add one more pic of the face so the flash does not wash out its true colors.
and makes them look lighter and less brighter than they are. There is Orange, Purple and Green along with the black - in case you can't notice them all in the pictures.
The Body is a zica Buck Rogers body, I painted the trunks to match the arm bands & I made the knee pads from scratch (they should have been purple but I could not find the right paint. I just finally got it after I took all the pictures so I will make a new set in the correct color and throw them on him over the weekend. The boot covers came from Ralph's - Thanks to Jase for telling me about the site!
I talked to toyroom about making the cardbacker - gave him some ideas what I was looking for and as Always he made it come to life!! -
As always a big Thank You to Anthony!
a lot of time and love went into him - so I hope it shows in the finished product
I threw some fun pics in as well - with the Warrior beating The Incredible Hulk (made By Black Knight) as he was a stand in for Hulk Hogan and the only figure big enough to take on the Warrior! Threw Joker in as Rick Rude lol!
Thanks for looking
Enjoy!
