Happy Friday!
I posted a few months back that I used the head from one of those Hasbro Signature Series POTA figures, which I was able to pick up pretty cheap, on a custom generic orangutan. To summarize, it wasn't a bad sculpt once you got the paint off. Also it came with a cool walking stick. ( http://megomuseum.com/community/show...tan-headsculpt )
Anyway, at the time I mentioned I was setting aside the plastic sort of vest cloak that came with the figure, planning to cut out the glyphs and use them on a Zaius wearing the longer coat and shoes outfit from the movie that he wears in the Ape City scenes (as opposed to his Forbidden Zone scenes outfit with tall boots, which the original Mego is patterned on).
Well, I finally got around to it. The coat is a repro Lizard lab coat colored orange and with the collar removed. I stripped the paint off of the plastic on the glyphs (the were dark brown originally). The base darker orange color isn't too bad. I may paint over it, but I don't want to lose the detail too much. Getting the colors right on ape clothes drives me crazy anyway since they seem to change from scene to scene
So I'm happy to leave them alone for now.
