One of the great things about Alex Ross' depiction was the shade of the tunic--kind of an orange-yellow "marigold" color, which is ironically vintage Mego's shade, too.
If someone could use that base shade and print orange or even copper metallic scales onto it, it'd be mind-blowing IMO. I think the Tonner versions featured variant tunics as well.
