    EMCE Bride redux

I've always hated the black hair, and wanted to make her look like she actually would have in color...Elsa Lanchester had red hair and green eyes, re-wrapped the bandages also. I think she looks a lot better.

Well done! Beautiful paint job and you did justice to Elsa.

I love this figure other than the big noggin. Has anyone shrunk this head to proper scale and made it available?

That is an improvement. But If you want to be totally accurate you need to get rid of the clown white skin tone. The Bride's make was based on the glamour make up of the day. She was pale but not clown white.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I knew she had auburn hair, because I read a passage where she described combing her hair over a horsehair cage. But I've always wondered about the actual coloring of the skin/makeup. Is there anywhere to find good color reference?

There are a few surviving color photos and I've also seen some colorized B&W that accurately depict the Bride's make up. Unfortunately, Universal's style guides generally ignores them and goes for the clown white and black hair look. Even Sideshow's highly praised figures get her totally wrong. A few items at least try to get hair color right, like the old Aladdin Lunch box.

She should have pale skin (not clown white), dark red lipstick and dark auburn hair (Not bright red or black).

Oddly enough, Universal did get her look fairly close in this old VHS cover. But the hair is still too black.
