Hamilton Slade The Ghost Rider (a.k.a. The Phantom Rider)

My two MOST favorite comic book characters are Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider. So, for my second custom endeavor I present the first of a trio of the men that set the benchmark for those that bore the curse of The Ghost Rider...Hamilton Slade.

The head is from Matt M. a.k.a. Next2TheLastMohican on eBay. The body, bodysuit, cape, boots, guns and gun rig are from CTVT.

Initially, I thought this custom would be a piece of cake but then when I went to paint the eyes I realized that THE EYES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT feature on this guy and I had better not screw them up.

Painting the light brown gun rig white was a challenge too, getting the right amount of coats to ensure that it wouldn't crack and remain somewhat flexible when fastened AROUND the waist but still light enough to not lose the subtle sculpt details of the rig itself.

Looks really good! Eyes look just fine!

I hate painting the eyes, can never seem to get them 100% right.

Oh well, its just a hobby, right? Having fun is the most important part IMHO.

Since my vision went, eyes have been tough. I stopped doing customs for a while because I just got aggravated. I still bought heads and accessories, I just never did any. Since I came back from the Meet, I've been putting stuff together. The eyes aren't near as good as they used to be, but I have missed the fun. Guess there's gonna be a lot of cross-eyed heroes in my future. Slade looks great.. Pactra makes flex agent spray paint that would work for the belt. It's for R/C car bodies.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I like how that came out, the eyes look fine to me, very nicely done, all you need now is a white horse for him to ride.
you can try a Lone Ranger horse or one of many Breyer horses being sold on ebay.

            Excellent figure.
This is exactly why FTC needs to make white holsters and cowboy boots.
Great job and it must have been a real chore to paint that gun rig?

              Thanks guys.

You are right, Riderfan, having fun is the most important part.

The eyes on your custom Atom look pretty good megocrazy.

Thanks tjacwave50 for the tip on getting him a worthy steed.

I agree, fallensaviour, FTC does need to make white holsters and white cowboy boots. They make the other belts in white and a lot of their other boot styles are available in white as well.

                  Thanks Vinny!

I am really enjoying all the aspects of customizing/kitbashing from the painting and sewing (when necessary) to the final assembly and the photo shoots. I am even dipping my toes in the custom sculpting and casting waters.

I am hooked and I am jonesing to finish my next custom
