Appreciate the kinds words, but I should give credit to gaga4toyz who did the head for me (over three years ago), Martin Cage of DD for paints and outfit, and Nick Hendricks for the package art. He's been my dream Sherlock figure, and hoping that he'll have some legs in my future plans and toy dreams.

He turned out great. Off the beaten path but very good pic of characters. The paints and sculpt look fantastic.

Thanks all, very happy with the way it turned out. Yeah, it's obscure but that's sort of why i wanted to do it.

Intially I had designed this ruddy 1970s style solid box for him but I SUCK AT FOLDING BOXES! Anthony and Mike have the patience of saints, I don't know how they do it.

I was told a knitting needle by a colleague but yeah, i do understand the basics. I'm just not terribly good at it and am prone to "Lenny from Mice and Men" reactions.

Unlike most of the other guys here it seems I am very familiar with UFO and have been a fan since it first aired in England in the early 1970s. I too wanted desperately GI JOE/ACTION MAN type figures from the show, as that was the standard at the time prior to Mego really emerging in the action figure arena, but made do with the yellow blonde haired ACTION MAN as the closest thing and as an 8 year old that kept me happy-ish! I have a large collection of UFO stuff including a couple of custom 12 inch figures put together by a pal for me. With this in mind I hope I can make a few comments and hope they are taken in the spirit offered. First off I agree that for the hair a yellow final wash would look closer to Ed Straker than the blue-grey. As a slick sleek looking guy the figure would benefit from a tighter neck to the nehru collar or in insertion of a mock turtle neck rather than the expanse of 'flesh'. A 'Starsky' sweater would work maybe. The shoes too would be better looking like the Chelsea/'Beatle' boot the guys in the show wore and maybe a cut down Klingon boot or the use of the STAR TREK lower leg would be an improvement. With regard to the packaging I'd have thought the actual TV logo would have looked closer to what Mego would have done rather than the adapted logo used in countries like Spain and Italy for their UFO merchandise. I'd also think art from COUNTDOWN or TV ACTION comic books a little better than the art from the SUPER SPACE THEATRE/PRECISION Video packaging. Although dynamic it doesn't really represent the show authentically. The Italian poster art for the boxed version is lovely and they are beautifully painted with some stunning character likeness'. However all that aside if I'd have seen this little guy in a store back in 1972 I would have wanted him big time. Also I am happy to see exposure for the show anywhere in any form so top marks to all concerned for that.

                      Dude, you're hardcore!

I do concede that the card design isn't probably how it would look in 1972 but everything from the logo to the layout has some personal meaning/connection for me. Trust me, I wrestled with that decision, I tend to be a little OCD about such things.

As for the jacket, yeah those photos are early and show it open, I tightly close the finished versions. A shirt dickie would be a great add on but I'll leave all those little mods to anybody who buys the doll, hopefully they share what they do.
