Draconian Guard from Buck Rogers (lots o' pics)

I've had this custom mego style Draconian Guard nearly finished for several months, but I just completed it last night (maybe someday I can finish the custom Twiki I started). I really wanted the ZICA Draconian Guard, but unfortunately it didn't happen, so here's my version. It's definitely the most detailed custom I've done so far.

I started by modeling the helmet, armor, guns and holsters using a 3d program. I sized the helmet and headset to fit on a CTVT Ivanhoe head. I then had them printed on a 3d printer. I was really pleased with how well the hieroglyphic symbols on the helmet printed. I was a bit worried since they are fairly subtle. I sewed the coat and pants myself (the most difficult part for me) and then made the accessories. The body is ZICA so that this custom could fit in with my treasured ZICA figures. The boots are Doc Mego "Elf" boots in black and they are perfect. The CTVT sword is painted to look like the movie swords. The background is some artwork I created a few years ago to fit in a Dida Displayset.

Here are the unpainted 3d prints of the armor and parts:

It was hard to find good reference pictures so I built it with screenshots and some of these pictures (The ZICA protype really helped, too):

Very impressive, not only the concept but the printing resolution as well.
I don't think our replicator2 would have done that nice, maybe it would, dunno.
What printer are you running Mike?
Sean's done some modeling in Blender so far...I've looked over his shoulder and I just don't have time to sit down and figure it out.

The boxed pic looks like he is store bought!

The armor and helmet detail are amazing. Beautiful figure! I would have gone with a Black colth underneath the armor, the Gray looks funky against the Gold. Awesome job!

I have a local manufacturing company do my 3d prints for me. The use the printer for client prototypes. I'm not sure what make it is, though. I'll have to ask.

Not a big fan of the show, but that's great work right there. Alot of time and love went into that figure.

Looks awesome. Love all the details on his armor.

The Draconian Guard was my favorite of the proposed ZICA line. Now, in a way, he did make it!
