Catwomen -- Filmation and Classic Purple Outfit

For all you out there who continue to break the unwritten rule of only posting one new custom a day (so you don't clog up the first page of Finished Customs with all of your work) I give you the evil-genius way around it. Posting more than one custom in a single thread. And, if that wasn't good enough, posting more than one custom of the same character in a single thread.

Here we have Filmation Catwoman. At first I was going to put a brand new mask over a Mego Catwoman or Wonder Woman head and then I thought, "Mego would not have done that!" They didn't do that with their version of Catwoman so why would I? Lookey here:

So, I simply painted the mask of a Mego Catwoman head white, designed and printed the suit, picked up some white boots and long yellow gloves from CTVT (and painted them white) and here she is. And, in fine Mego tradition, I even printed cuffs and boots on the suit so I can transform her from a gloves and boot version into a silk-screen version depending upon my mood.

Next, we have the classic purple costume Catwoman. Mego Catwoman head with mask painted purple; Dr Mego repro Batgirl cowl painted purple; my suit with printed boots (its hard to find boots in scale that are the right height); and blue CTVT gloves painted black. Please note: I cut all of Catwoman's hair off and glued it to the inside back of the cowl to achieve a much better fit on her head.

Again, the thought process for all of my customs is always, "Knowing what we know about Mego and what they did with previous characters, how would Mego have made this character?"

And, finally, a ménage à trois

Hope you enjoy my customs and, as always, thanks for looking.

    Peace, Love and Megos,

    Austin

Nice job Austin. I enjoy the "MEGO FEEL" you try to do and stick to.
...and yes...there should be a rule about one custom maybe a day or two (I have broken it myself I admit).

Love your customs as always! That Filmation design is terrible though...did they design that or is that what she was wearing in the comics at that time? There's absolutely nothing catlike about it.

Catwoman began wearing this green costume in her first true appearance in a Batman comic during the "New Look" era, Batman #197, Dec. 1967. It's clearly based on the TV series look, but colored green for some reason (probably for legal reasons over the TV's domain vs. the comic). The Filmation series debuted the following fall, and obviously used this suit as it's inspiration, but REALLY simplified the design, and added white for some reason.

Nice--these go well with your earlier Filmation '77 Catwoman.

Is Filmation's green suit modeled on the green "Newmar" costume in the late '60s comics?
