    Customized Retro Action Shazam

    Hey guys, enjoy:

I've been having fun with my toys again
What I have done this time is really neat in my eyes.
I started off by disassembling a standard Mego body, then proceeded to scan every single piece to create 3d formats in which I can add onto or take away from. This widened my horizons even more.

This is what I did first

As you can see, I buffed him up quite a bit

One thing led to another, and....

Then with a little more work you can see the differences.

I hope you enjoyed the alterations.
Wait for my next post which is coming up soon
Take it easy and thanks for looking
    -Sean

How do you feel about sharing the digital body files? Did you scan a Mego body or an Emce body?

I scanned a Mego body, but until I perfect the scans and make sure they print out perfectly, I don't wanna give out crappy scans that'd only give only "eh" results

3d modeling and printing are an incredible tool for customizes. Thanks for showing us your work.

Wow... imagine the possibilities. Someday, you could print your own bodies on demand from the comfort of your own home. You could make your Spidey body a bit shorter, leaner and wiry... while your Supes is taller and more buff.

And come to think of it, Mego is a unique position here. If you tried to do this with a GI Joe body, surely Hasbro would be sending you C&D letters.

Nice work!!!! Looks like I need to invest in that machine. I've been building up biceps with sculpty for awhile and getting the same results but with that little device it would save me days on sculpting (That's why I have only done four bodies lol )

Can you link us to a page where they have scanner printers like that?
More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

                        What printer are you using?
I have been thinking about getting one,but I was kind of waiting till they can almost reproduce them self .
I know there is alot of free shared software now.
Are you doing your builds in computer or mostly 3d scanning? (I was thinking on building my own 3d scanner as that can be done very cheaply now.).
I was unsure of which to buy,I want to do mego like bodies, but I have a bunch of other ideas I dont want to go into here....
I was kind of worried about cost of product ...what do you think the material cost per figure is?
Feel free to pm me if you dont want to openly talk about it.

I've been using a NextEngine hd 3d Scanner as well as a Makerbot Replicator 2 3d printer
They both have their flaws but once you learn how to compensate for them, they're not bad products.
The printer is ALOT of hit and miss. Some days it works fine, and on the other hand I can't even get it to heat up. And the kicker is, Makerbot even knows of these issues that other users and myself are having, but don't address them and would rather play stupid when it comes to support.

But soon, with a modification, the printer may be giving better results then what I'm showing you guys now.

As for my creations, my body that is shown in my Leonidas thread is just a scanned type2 Mego body that I personally sculpted onto in a program called Blender. Ill post more figures soon hopefully of where I have scanned Mego heads and "added some clay onto" to get my own creations.

Also if you check out my Leonidas thread again, the head that's used is a scanned Famous Covers Captain America head that I reworked in Blender as well.

As for cost per figure, I have no honest idea. The spool of pla filament is quite big and takes a while to run out... I've made 3 bodies? And haven't really made a dent in my current spool
