love the detail you gave him on his shirt,
did somebody get a bedazzler for Christmas?
What body did you build him on?
I know. That's right but no they are not bedazzlers.
I saw a picture of Kingpin with a bunch of gold buttons on his vest and I tried to duplicate that. I guess it really varies from artist to artist.
You ask about the body I made him on....well it's a little tricky recipe. (heh heh).
Awhile ago before Dr. Mego came up with the original idea to reproduce the Mego Hulk bodies in a 8 inch size (at a reasonable rate) I was away ahead of some people when it came to getting started on my "big dudes."
As soon as that (mego-like muscular) Eight inch Brock Sampson/Venture brothers doll came out, I bought about twenty of them and stripped them of the clothing and head. I am not kidding you! I went to three Toys R Us stores and one hobby store and bought every Brock Sampson doll.
You have to think, this was before Dr. Mego had found a cheap way to reproduce the 8 inch muscle body. I had a lot of characters needing that "big body". Some of them stores must have wondered who the hell this Brock Sampson was because every store in the area had sold out of the figure in under two weeks.
I built up the scrawny legs on the Brock dolls with sclupty (making the legs as muscular as the top half). It almost looks like the torso of the Brock dolls are a cast of the Mego Hulk torso.
Then I began my building of "big dudes."
One of the figures I added an extra amount of sculpty to, to create the illusion of a large sized fella like the Kingpin with a bit more mass around the center area
The shoes are interesting. They came from some other unknown military figure from some hard plastic toy. They were black show boots that I removed and replaced after I removed Brock's pathetic little yellow boat shoes. It was a tricky surgery but with some sculpty and a touch of super glue they fell perfect into place and look even better with the purple slacks.
I tell you that Kingpin custom has been lying around for about two years now. I have been tweaking the head and how I wanted the white coat to look.
Originally I tried to sculpt my own Kingpin head but it looked like ***. I originally had a cigar in his left hand but all my friends kept asking me why Kingpin was flipping them off so I removed the cigar.
At last I found the perfect head for him about three months ago. It was some Dr. Who figure. I have never watched or got into the show but when I saw that head something clicked inside my brain. So I bought the figure and removed the head and fitted it on the Kingpin custom. With a little tweaking and repainting I was able to get that head to work.
Finally after about a few years of tweaking, prodding and redoing I think this is what I am going to settle with. There are some people that say that there are too many buttons on his vest. Then there are some people that say that it works. I am at the point where I am no longer going to tweak this guy. I think Kingpin is finished and he will go to my completed pile.

Is that why there's a dried glue spot on his left hand? Now it makes sense. And on a second looking, I just have to comment on those pants: The color is perfect. Did you have to dye them?

King Pin.JPG Here is my unfinished version of King Pin. His body is the Penguin and his head is from a Big Jim figure. A white tuxedo and he should be ready to be carded.
I would have loved to see you with your arms full of those figures standing in line patiently waiting. What would have been better, is with all them you would have had 1 exacto knife with them.

No, that's a Mafia ring. It's a secret ring that he wears to show that he is "the man".
The pants? Yes, that took a while to get those. It is almost a stretchy silk like material. The rest of it went to my Huntress custom.
